Situation:
Greens Pro 1200 customers have reported nuisance and random engine shutdowns. Two root
causes are known:
1. Low oil level in the engine can allow sufficient oil movement (slosh) in crankcase may result in
the low oil switch to shut down the engine when abruptly changing roller direction during use.
2. The fuel tank cap on the Honda engine contains a charcoal filter cartridge to keep gasoline
fumes from escaping the fuel system. If the Operator’s Manual instructions (on page 11 & 12)
are not followed, and the fuel tank is filled to the rim, saturation of the charcoal filter will result.
This saturation will prevent the tank from venting and cause the engine to stop due to lack of
fuel.
Correction:
Root Cause 1) Locate the machine so that the engine is as level as possible. Fill the engine
crankcase with the recommended oil so that the level is up to the lip of the fill hole. This is indicated
on the dip stick as the top of the cross hatch area.
This image is reprinted from the operator’s Manual. Fill the oil to the upper limit (#1) indicated.
Root Cause 2) Failure to follow the Operator’s Manual instruction (fill fuel no more than 1- 25 mm -
below the bottom of the filler neck) will result in failure of the fuel delivery system and intermittent
nuisance engine shutdown.
Fuel cap replacement is required for caps determined to be saturated with fuel. This is not
warrantable situation.
