1.Operatorseat2.Seatswitch
Anoperator’sseatswitchaspartofthemachineinterlocksystem.Theseat
switchisattachedtothebottomoftheseat(Figure?).Whenanoperatorsits
intheseat,theseatcushionpressestheswitchplungerandclosestheswitch.
Whentheseatisemptytheswitchisallowedtoreturntoitsnormallyopen
position.Theinterlockmodulemonitorsthepositionoftheseatswitch(openor
closed).Usinginputsfromtheseatswitchandotherswitchesintheinterlock
system,theinterlockmoduleopensorclosestheengineignitioncircuit(controls
circuitground).
Note:Beginningwithmachineserialnumber40190001,anadhesivebacked
spacer(puck)wasaddedtothetopoftheseatswitchtoimproveswitch
sensitivity.ThepuckmaybeaddedtotheseatswitchonallGreensPromachines
ifnecessary.
TestingtheSeatSwitch
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,engagetheparkingbrake,andshutoff
theengine.
2.Disconnectthewireharnessconnectorfromtheseatswitch.
3.Checkthewireharnessconnectorforcorrosionandcleantheconnector
ifnecessary.
4.Useamultimeter(ohmssetting)andtesttheswitch.Theswitchisclosed
(continuityexistsbetweentheterminals)whenweightisappliedtotheseat
cushion,andopen(nocontinuityexistsbetweentheterminals)whenthe
seatisempty.
5.Replacetheseatswitchiftestingdeterminesthatitisdamaged.
6.Iftheseatswitchtestingiscorrectandacircuitproblemstillexists,check
thewireharnessforthecircuitcontinuity;refertotheElectricalSchematics
andWireHarnessDrawings/Diagrams(page6–3).
7.Aftertesting,applyalmofdielectricgreasetotheswitchterminalsand
connectthemachinewireharnessconnectortotheseatswitch.
