StartingtheEngine
Note:Makesurethatthespark-plugwireisconnectedto
thesparkplug.
1.Ensurethattheparkingbrakeissetandthatthemotion
pedalsareintheNEUTRALposition.
2.TurntheOn/OffswitchtotheONposition.
3.Turnthefuel-shutoffvalvetotheOPENposition.
4.MovethechokelevertotheONpositionwhenstarting
acoldengine.
Note:Thechokemaynotberequiredwhenstarting
awarmengine.
5.MovethethrottlecontroltotheFastposition.
6.Standattherearofthemachine,pulltherecoil-start
handleoutuntilpositiveengagementresults;thenpull
itvigorouslytostarttheengine.
Important:Donotpulltherecoilropetothe
limitorletgoofthestarterhandlewhentherope
ispulledout,becausetheropemaybreakorthe
recoilassemblymaybedamaged.
7.Whentheenginehasstarted,pushthechokeleverto
theOFFposition.
8.MovethethrottlelevertotheFASTposition,forbest
rollerperformance.
StoppingtheEngine
1.Afteroperatingthemachine,returnthemotionpedals
totheNEUTRALpositionandsettheparkingbrake.
2.Turntheenginespeedtoidle,andallowittorunfor10
to20seconds.
3.TurntheOn/OffswitchtotheOFFposition.
4.Turnthefuel-shutoffvalvetotheCLOSEDposition.
CheckingtheSafety-Interlock
System
CAUTION
Ifthesafety-interlockswitchesaredisconnectedor
damaged,themachinecouldoperateunexpectedly,
causingpersonalinjury.
•Donottamperwiththeinterlockswitches.
•Checktheoperationoftheinterlockswitches
daily,andreplaceanydamagedswitchesbefore
operatingthemachine.
Important:Ifthesafety-interlocksystemdoesnot
operateasdescribedbelow,haveanAuthorizedToro
Distributorrepairitimmediately.
1.Settheparkingbrake,ensurethatthemotionpedals
areintheNEUTRALposition,andstarttheengine.
2.Sitontheseat.
3.Withtheparkingbrakeset,gentlypressamotionpedal
down;theengineshouldstopafterapproximately1
second.
4.Withtheenginerunningandthebrakereleased,stand
upandverifythattheenginestopsafter1second.
Note:Thesafety-interlocksystemisalsodesignedtostop
theengineiftheoperatorrisesofftheseatwhilethemachine
ismoving.
