•Neverallowanyonenearthemachinewhileinoperation.
•Neveroperatethemachinewithdamagedguardsor
withoutguardsinplace.Besurethatallguardsare
functioningproperly.
•Donotchangetheenginegovernorsettingsoroverspeed
theengine.Operatingtheengineatexcessivespeedmay
increasethehazardofpersonalinjury.
•Beforeleavingtheoperator'sposition:
–Stoponlevelground.
–Settheparkingbrake.
–Turntheenginespeedtoidle,andallowittorunfor
10to20seconds.
–Stoptheengine.
•Stoptheengine:
–Beforefueling;
–Beforechecking,cleaning,orworkingonthemachine;
–Afterstrikingaforeignobjectorifanabnormal
vibrationoccurs.Inspectthemachinefordamage
andmakerepairsbeforestartingagainandoperating
themachine.
•Reducethethrottlesettingbeforestoppingengineand
turnthefuel-shutoffvalveoffattheconclusionof
operation.
•Keephandsandfeetawayfromtherollers.
•Donotoperatethemachineundertheinuenceof
alcoholordrugs.
•Lightningcancausesevereinjuryordeath.Iflightning
isseenorthunderisheardinthearea,donotoperate
themachine;seekshelter.
•Usecarewhenloadingorunloadingthemachineintoor
outofatraileroratruck.
SafeHandlingofFuels
•Toavoidpersonalinjuryorpropertydamage,use
extremecareinhandlinggasoline.Gasolineisextremely
ammableandthevaporsareexplosive.
•Extinguishallcigarettes,cigars,pipes,andothersources
ofignition.
•Useonlyanapprovedfuelcontainer.
•Neverremovefuelcaporaddfuelwiththeengine
running.
•Allowenginetocoolbeforerefueling.
•Neverrefuelthemachineindoors.
•Neverstorethemachineorfuelcontainerwherethereis
anopename,spark,orpilotlightsuchasonawater
heateroronotherappliances.
•Neverllcontainersinsideavehicleoronatruckor
trailerbedwithaplasticliner.Alwaysplacecontainerson
thegroundawayfromyourvehiclebeforelling.
•Removeequipmentfromthetruckortrailerandrefuelit
ontheground.Ifthisisnotpossible,thenrefuelsuch
equipmentwithaportablecontainer,ratherthanfroma
fueldispensernozzle.
•Keepthenozzleincontactwiththerimofthefueltank
orcontaineropeningatalltimesuntilfuelingiscomplete.
•Donotuseanozzlelockopendevice.
•Iffuelisspilledonclothing,changeclothingimmediately.
•Neveroverllfueltank.Replacefuelcapandtighten
securely.
MaintenanceandStorage
•Closethefuel-shutoffvalvewhilestoringortransporting
themachine.Donotstorefuelnearamesordrainfuel
indoors.
•Parkthemachineonlevelground.Settheparkingbrake
andchockthetrailerwheelsasrequired.Neverallow
untrainedpersonneltoservicethemachine.
•Usejackstandstosupportcomponentswhenrequired.
•Carefullyreleasepressurefromcomponentswithstored
energy.
•Keepallnuts,bolts,andscrewstighttobesurethatthe
machineisinsafeworkingcondition.Replaceallwornor
damagednuts,bolts,andscrews.
•Neverstorethemachinewithfuelinthetankinsidea
buildingwherefumesmayreachanopenameorspark.
•Allowtheenginetocoolbeforestoringthemachinein
anyenclosure,anddonotstoreitnearaame.
•Toreducetheriskofre,keeptheengine,silencer,and
fuel-storageareafreeofgrass,leaves,orexcessivegrease.
•Keepallpartsingoodworkingconditionandallhardware
andhydraulicttingstightened.Replaceallwornor
damagedpartsanddecals.
•Ifthefueltankhastobedrained,dothisoutdoors.
•Becarefulduringadjustmentofthemachinetoprevent
entrapmentofthengersbetweenmovingandxed
partsofthemachine.
•Stoptheengineanddisconnectthespark-plugwire.Wait
forallmovementtostopbeforeadjusting,cleaning,or
repairing.
•Cleangrassanddebrisfromrollers,drives,mufers,and
enginetohelppreventres.Cleanupoilorfuelspillage.
•Keephandsandfeetawayfrommovingparts.Ifpossible,
donotmakeadjustmentswiththeenginerunning.
Hauling
•Usecarewhenloadingorunloadingthemachineintoa
trailerortruck.
•Usefullwidthrampsforloadingmachineintotraileror
truck.
•Tiethemachinedownsecurelyusingstraps,chains,cable,
orropes.Bothfrontandrearstrapsshouldbedirected
downandoutwardfromthemachine.
