ServicingtheAirCleaner
ServiceInterval:Beforeeachuseordaily—Check
theaircleaner.
Every50hours—Cleantheaircleaner(more
oftenindirtyordustyconditions).
Every300hours—Replacethepaperelement.
1.Disconnectthespark-plugwirefromthespark
plug.
2.Removethewingnutsecuringtheair-cleaner
covertotheaircleaner,andremovethecover
(Figure32).

A.Washthefoamelementinasolutionof
liquidsoapandwarmwater.
Note:Squeezetheelementtoremovethe
dirt,butdonottwistit,becausethefoam
maytear.
B.Dryitbywrappingitinacleanrag.
Note:Squeezetheragandfoamelement
todrytheelement,butdonottwistit,
becausethefoammaytear.
C.Saturatetheelementwithcleanengineoil.
Note:Squeezetheelementtoremove
excessoilandtodistributetheoilthoroughly.
Thefoamelementshouldbedampwithoil.
8.Cleanthepaperelementbytappingthelter
elementseveraltimesonahardsurfaceto
removethedirt.
Note:Neverbrushdirtofftheelementoruse
compressedairtoremovedirt;brushingforces
dirtintothebers,andcompressedairwill
damagethepaperlter.
9.Installthefoamelement,thepaperelement,and
theair-cleanercover.
Important:Donotoperatetheengine
withouttheair-cleanerelements,because
extremeenginewearanddamagewilllikely
result.
ServicingtheSparkPlug
ServiceInterval:Every100hours—Check/adjustthe
sparkplug.
Every300hours—Replacethesparkplug.
Type:NGKBPR6ESsparkplugorequivalent
AirGap:0.70to0.80mm(0.028to0.031inch);refer
