Checkingthe
Hydraulic-FluidLevel
ServiceInterval:BeforeeachuseordailyCheckthe
levelofthehydraulicuidbefore
theengineisrststartedanddaily
thereafter.
Note:Beforeworkingonanypartofthehydraulic
drivesystem,shutofftheenginetodepressurizethe
system.Beforestartingtheengineafterhydraulic
systemmaintenance,andpressurizingthehydraulic
lines,checkallhosesandconnectorsfordamageand
toensurethattheyaretight.Replaceanydamaged
hosesandtightenanyloosecouplingsasrequired.
1.Preparethemachineformaintenance;referto
PreparingforMaintenance(page22).
2.Raisetheoperator’sseat;refertoRaisingthe
OperatorsSeat(page22).
3.Removethecapandcheckhydraulic-uidlevel
inthereservoir(Figure36).
Thehydraulic-uidlevelshouldcovertheword
COLDthatisembossedintothebafeofthe
reservoir.

thereservoiruntiltheuidcoversthecold-uid
levelonthebafe.
Note:ThebafeinthereservoirislabeledHOT
andCOLD.Fillthereservoirtotheappropriate
leveldependinguponthetemperatureofthe
uid.Theuidlevelvarieswiththetemperature
oftheuid.Thecoldlevelshowsthelevelof
theuidwhenitisat24°C(75°F).Thehotlevel
showsthelevelofuidwhenitisat107°C
(225°F).
Forexample:Iftheuidisatambient-air
temperature,about24°C(75°F),llonlytothe
coldlevel.Iftheuidisabout65°C(150°F),ll
tohalfwaybetweenthehotandcoldlevels.
5.Replacethehydraulicreservoircapandtighten
ituntilitissnug.
Important:Donotovertightenthereservoir
cap.
6.Wipeupanyspilleduid.
7.Lowertheoperator’sseat;refertoLoweringthe
OperatorsSeat(page23).
