Aneutralswitchaspartofthemachineinterlocksystem(Figure?).Theneutral
switchispartofthetransmission/pumpcontrolarmassembly.Wheneither
motioncontrolpedalispressed,theswitchisallowedtoreturntoitsnormally
opencondition.Thecontrolarmassemblypressestheswitchplungerwhen
eithertractionpedalisreleased,returningthetransmissiontoneutralandclosing
theswitch.Theinterlockmodulemonitorsthepositionoftheneutralswitch
(openorclosed).Usinginputsfromtheneutralswitchandotherswitchesin
theinterlocksystem,theinterlockmoduleopensorclosestheengineignition
circuit(controlscircuitground).
Note:Checkthemotioncontrollinkageoperationbeforetestingtheswitch;refer
toAdjustingtheControlPedalReturntoNeutralMechanism(page5–29).
TestingtheNeutralSwitch
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,engagetheparkingbrake,andshutoff
theengine.
2.Disconnectthewireharnessconnectorfromtheneutralswitch.
3.Checkthewireharnessconnectorforcorrosionandcleantheconnector
ifnecessary.
4.Useamultimeter(ohmssetting)andtesttheswitch.Theswitchisclosed
(continuityexistsbetweentheterminals)whenboththemotioncontrol
pedalsareintheNEUTRAL(rearward)position,andopen(nocontinuity
existsbetweentheterminals)wheneithermotioncontrolpedalisinaMOVE
(forward)position.
5.Replacetheneutralswitchiftestingdeterminesthatitisdamaged.
6.Iftheneutralswitchtestingiscorrectandacircuitproblemstillexists,check
thewireharnessforthecircuitcontinuity;refertotheElectricalSchematics
andWireHarnessDrawings/Diagrams(page6–3).
7.Aftertesting,applyalmofdielectricgreasetotheswitchterminalsand
connectthemachinewireharnessconnectortotheneutralswitch.
