4.Thesteeringcolumngasspringassemblycontrolsthesteeringcolumntilt
position.Ifthegasspringassemblyreplacementisnecessary,removethe
gasspringassemblyasfollows:
A.Setthesteeringcolumntilttothefullyforwardposition.
B.RemoveanE-ring(item7)fromanendofeachpivotpin.
CAUTION
Becarefulwhenremovingorinstallingthegasspringassembly.
Theassemblymayextendsuddenlyandcausepersonalinjury.
C.Removethe2pivotpinsout,andremovethegasspringassembly.
5.Removethesteeringpivotlinkagerodfromthesteeringpivot.
6.Loosenthesteeringpivotsetscrewandpullthesteeringpivotandwoodruff
keyfromthesteeringcolumn.
7.Removethe4bolts,4atwashers,and4angenutsthatsecurethesteering
columntothechassis,andremovethesteeringcolumn.
InstallingtheSteeringColumn
RefertoFigure77forthisprocedure.
1.Placethesteeringcolumninpositiononthechassisandsecurethesteering
columnwiththe4bolts,4atwashers,and4angenuts.
2.Installthewoodruffkeyandsteeringpivotonthesteeringcolumn.Setthe
distancefromthetopofthesteeringpivottotheundersideofthechassistop
plateto32mm(1.25inches)forGreensPro1240machinesor25mm(1
inch)forGreensPro1260machinesandtightenthesetscrew(Figure78).
