ChargingtheHydraulicSystem
IMPORTANT
Airmustbepurgedfromthesystemtoreducethechanceof
componentdamage.
Wheninitiallystartingthehydraulicsystemwithneworrebuiltcomponentssuch
asmotorsorpumps,itisimportantthatthehydraulicsystemischargedproperly
toremoveairfromthesystem.
Note:Flushthehydraulicsystemwheneverthereisaseverecomponentfailure
orthesystemiscontaminated;refertoFlushingtheHydraulicSystem(page
5–38).
1.Parkthemachineonaclean,levelsurfacewiththeengineoff.Lowerand
lockthetransportwheels(driverolleroffground).
2.Ensurethatallofthehydraulicconnections,lines,andcomponentsare
securedtightly.
3.Ensurethatthehydraulictankisfull.Addthecorrectquantityandtypeof
hydraulicuidifnecessary;refertotheOperatorsManual.
4.Checkthemotioncontrollinkageforproperadjustment,binding,ordamaged
parts.
5.Primethehydraulicpump;refertoPrimingtheHydraulicPump(page5–41).
6.Starttheengineandrunitatlow-idlespeed.
Note:Thetransmission/hydraulicpumpmustpickupthehydraulicuidand
llthehydraulicsystem.Ifthereisnoindicationofllin30seconds,shutoff
theengineanddeterminethecause.
7.Afterthehydraulicsystemstartstoshowsignsoflling,pressthemotion
controlpedalstorotatethedriverollerrightandleftseveraltimes.
8.EnsurethatthemotioncontrolpedalsreturntotheNEUTRALpositionwhen
releasedandadjustifnecessary.
9.Operatethemotioncontrolpedalsintheleftandrightdirections.Makesure
thedriverolleristurningintheproperdirectionandallowthedriveroller
toturnslowlyforten(10)minutes.
10.Shutofftheengine.
11.Operatethemachinebygraduallyincreasingitsworkloadtofullovera10
minuteperiod.
12.Stopthemachine,checkthehydrauliccomponentsforleaksandtighten
anylooseconnections.
13.Checkthehydraulicuidlevelinthehydraulictankandadjustasnecessary;
refertotheOperator’sManual.
Note:Ifnewuidshowsanysignsofcontamination,ushhydraulicsystem
againuntiltheuidisclean;refertoFlushingtheHydraulicSystem(page
5–38).
