Improperuseormaintenancebytheoperatoror
ownercanresultininjury.Toreducethepotential
forinjury,complywiththesesafetyinstructions
andalwayspayattentiontothesafetyalert
symbol,whichmeansCAUTION,WARNING,or
DANGER-"personalsafetyinstruction."Failureto
complywiththeinstructionmayresultinpersonal
injuryordeath.
BeforeOperating
•Themachinehasdifferentbalance,weight,and
handlingcharacteristicscomparedtosomeother
typesofpulledequipment.Readandunderstandthe
contentsofthisOperator'sManualbeforeoperating
themachine.Becomefamiliarwithallcontrolsand
knowhowtostopquickly.
•Neverallowchildrentooperatethemachine.Donot
allowadultstooperatethemachinewithoutproper
instructions.Onlytrainedandauthorizedpersons
shouldoperatethisvehicle.Anyonewhooperates
thevehicleshouldhaveamotorvehiclelicense.
•Neveroperatethemachinewhenundertheinuence
ofdrugsoralcohol.
•Keepallshieldsandsafetydevicesinplace.Ifa
shield,safetydeviceordecalisillegibleordamaged,
repairorreplaceitbeforeoperationiscommenced.
•Tightenanyloosenuts,boltsandscrewstoassure
machineisinsafeoperatingcondition.Makesure
themachinetonguemountingpins,hitchpinsand
tonguejackareinplaceandsecure.
•Donotmodifythisequipmentinanymanner.
•Donotoperatemachinewhilewearingsandals,
tennisshoes,sneakersorshorts.Also,donot
wearloosettingclothingwhichcouldgetcaught
inmovingparts.Alwayswearlongpantsand
substantialshoes.Wearingsafetyglasses,safetyshoes
andahelmetisadvisableandrequiredbysomelocal
ordinancesandinsuranceregulations.
•Thecapabilitiesofthemachinemayvarydepending
onthesizeandtypeoftowvehicle.
–Forbestresults,useatowvehiclewithatleast45
hpandfourwheeldrive.Atowvehiclewithless
than45hpwilllimitwhereyoucangoandhow
muchpayloadyoucandeliver.Forexample,a27
hptowvehiclecantowafullyloadedmachine
overatterrain,butnotonsteephills.Afour
wheeldrivewillalsoimproveperformanceon
hills.
–Withasmallertowvehicle,youmayneedto
reducethepayloadto2.6cubicyards(2cubic
meters)ofmaterialforspreadingindifcult
terrain.Anotheroptionistotowafullyloaded
machinetoaspotnearthejobandthenload
smallermachinesfromthemachinetocomplete
thejob.
–Forbestresults,useatowvehiclewithaxed
displacementhydraulicpumpwithapower
outputof2,000psi@10gal/min(138bar@38
L/min).Performancewillbereducedifpump
outputisless.
–Whenfullyloaded,themachinecanweighup
to15,432lb(7,000kg).Donotgobeyondthe
limitationsofthetowvehicle.
–Ensurethatthetowvehiclehasenoughpower
andtractiontopullafullload.Ifnot,reducethe
sizeofloads.
–Thetowvehiclemusthaveanadequatehitchand
functionalbrakes.
•Thetongueistheareaonthemachinewherethe
hitchconnectstothetowvehicle.Theweightofthe
tongueaffectsthestabilityofthemachine.
–Whenthetongue’sweightisforcedupintothe
hitchofthetowvehicle,thisproducesanegative
tongueweight.Negativetongueweightmayalso
resultwhenoptionsaremountedontherearof
themachine.
–Whenthetongue’sweightisforceddownonto
thehitchofthetowvehicle,thisproducesa
positivetongueweight.
–Anegativeorpositivetongueweightcancause
injurywhenconnectingordisconnectingthe
machinetothetowvehicle.Ensurethatthejack
standsareproperlyengaged.
–Tobalancethetongueweight,raiseorlowerthe
rearofthemachineby4-6inches(10-15cm).
However,beawarethatraisingthemachinecan
increasetheriskoftipping.
WhileOperating
•Donotruntheengineinaconnedareawithout
adequateventilation.Exhaustfumesarehazardous
andcouldpossiblybedeadly.
•NEVERcarrypassengersonthemachineandkeep
everyoneawayfromtheareasofoperation.
•Keephandsandfeetoutofhopperwhenunitis
operatingorengineisrunningontowvehicle.
