Procedure
Beforeoperatingthemachineforthersttime,theelectric
brakesmustbesynchronizedtothetowvehicle’sbrakes(so
thattheyoperateatthesametime).
Themachineandthetowvehiclewillseldomhavethecorrect
amperageowtothebrakemagnetstoprovidecomfortable,
safebraking.Changingtheloadweight,aswellasuneven
alternatorandbatteryoutput,canresultinunstablecurrent
owtothebrakemagnets.
TheBrakeControlcompensatesfortrailerloadvariationsby
limitingthemaximumtorqueoutputofthebrakesbyadding
droppingresistanceintheelectricalcontrolline.Whentowing
atrailerloadedtobrakeratedcapacity,theBrakeControl
mustbesetatmaximumbraking.Whenpullinganemptyor
partiallyloadedtrailer,theBrakeControlmustbesetbetween
maximumandminimumbrakingatapositionjustbeforethe
pointatwhichtrailertireskiddingoccurswhenactuatingthe
handcontrolfullyon.FailuretoinstallandusetheElectric
BrakeControlwillresultinexcessivebraketorquewhen
stoppingatrailerloadedtolessthanbrakecapacity.
