TensioningtheConveyorBelt
Checkandadjustthebelttensionfrequently(Figure46).All
rubberconveyorbeltswillstretch,especiallywhentheyare
neworhavenotbeenusedforawhile.
1.ParktheMH-400onlevelgroundwiththereargate
andfeedgateatleast1/4inch(6.25mm)offtheoor
(dependingonthematerial).
2.Fullyloadthemachinewithsandthatyouexpectthe
MH-400touse.
3.Removetheblackfrontcoversoneithersideofthe
MH-400.
4.Usingtwowrenches,holdtheendofthetensionerrod
stationary,whilelooseningthelockingnutclosestto
theendoftherod.
5.Movethelockingnutback1–2inches(2–5cm).
WARNING
Useextremecautionaroundmovingparts
withsafetyguardsremoved.
6.Turnontheconveyorbelt.
7.Ifbeltslips,tightenthetensionboltsevenly(with
machineoff)halfaturnandrecheck.Continueuntil
thebeltmoveswithoutanyslippage.
8.Givebothtensioningboltsanotherhalfturn.Atthis
pointyoushouldhavepropertension.
9.Toverify,lookunderneathatthechassiscrossmember.
Themiddleofthebeltshouldjustclearthechassis
crossmemberwhentheMH-400isinthedown
position.Ifthemiddleofthebeltistouchingthecross
member,tightenbothtensioningboltsanotherquarter
ofaturn.
Important:Bepatient!Donotover-tensionthe
belt.
Important:Donotuseairtoolsonthebelt
tensioningbolts.
ChangingtheConveyorBelt
Readtheseinstructionsbeforeremovingthebelt.Ifthebelt
iscompletelydestroyed,simplyuseaknifetocutthebeltin
anundamagedarea.Ifyouintendtomakeawarrantyclaim,
thebeltsuppliermustinspectthebelttoevaluatethedamage
andmakerecommendationsforreplacement.
RemovingtheBelt
1.Removetheblacksafetycoverslocatedonthefour
outercornersofthemachine.
2.Removetheguidesfortheinnerrubberlinerfromthe
frontandbothsidesofthehopper,withthemetalrails
attached.
3.Removethesiliconesealerontherearofthemetalrails
(butremembertoreapplythesiliconesealerwhenre
installingthem).
4.Atbothfrontcorners,usetwowrenchestoholdthe
endofthetensionerrodstationary.
5.Loosenthenutclosesttotheendofthetensioningrod.
6.Movetheinsideadjustingnutbackuntilthetensioning
rodclearsthepillowblockbearing.
Note:Thefrontidlerrollerissupportedbytwopillow
blockbearingssittinginanupperandlowerguide(one
setoneachsideofthemachine).
7.Supportthefrontidlerroller.
8.Gototherightfrontcornerandremovethelocking
collarthatholdsthepillowblockbearingontheshaft.
Dothisbybackingoffthesetscrewsandturningthe
lockingcollarcounterclockwise.Usingahammerand
punch,tapthelockingcollarcounterclockwiseuntil
itreleasesfromtheshaft.
9.Repeatthisstepfortheleftfrontcorner.
10.Removethepillowblockbearingsbyslidingtheidler
rollerbacksothepillowblockbearingsslideoutof
theirguides.
11.Removethetwosafetybracketsandslidetheroller
downthroughtheopenhole.
12.Gototherearofthemachineandloosenthetensioning
sprocket.
13.Removethechainfromthedrivesprocket.
14.Loosenthesetscrewsonthedrivesprocketandremove
thedrivesprocketandkeyfromthedriverollershaft.
15.Supportthereardriveroller.
Important:Donotdisturbtherearroller
adjustmentbracketassembly.Itisdesignedto
adjusttherearrollerautomaticallyifthebeltisnot
trackingaccurately
16.Removethefourboltsintheangebearingsonboth
sides.
17.Removethelockingcollarsnexttotheangebearings
ontheshaft,andslidebothbearingsofftheshaft.
18.Removethetwooptionattachmentbrackets

Figure47).
