DuringOperationSafety
•Theowner/operatorcanpreventandisresponsible
foraccidentsthatmaycausepersonalinjuryor
propertydamage.
•Donotoperatethemachinewhentired,ill,or
undertheinuenceofalcoholordrugs.
•Useyourfullattentionwhileoperatingthe
machine.Donotengageinanyactivitythat
causesdistractions;otherwise,injuryorproperty
damagemayoccur.
•Wearappropriateclothing,includingeye
protection;longpants;substantial,slip-resistant
footwear;andhearingprotection.Tiebacklong
hairanddonotwearlooseclothingorloose
jewelry.
•Nevercarrypassengersonthemachineandkeep
bystandersandpetsawayfromthemachine
duringoperation.
•Keepyourhandsandfeetoutofthehopperwhile
themachineisoperating,orwhiletheengineis
runningonthetowvehicle.
•Remainseatedwheneverthetowvehicleisin
motion.
•Usingthemachinedemandsattention.Failing
tooperatetowvehiclesafelymayresultinan
accident,tip-overofthetowvehicle,andserious
injuryordeath.Drivecarefully,andtoprevent
tippingorlossofcontrol,dothefollowing:
–Useextremecaution,reducethespeed,and
maintainasafedistance(twicethewidthofthe
machine)aroundsandtraps,ditches,water
hazards,ramps,unfamiliarareas,orother
hazards.
–Reducethespeedofaloadedmachinewhen
negotiatingterrainundulationstoavoidcausing
themachinetobecomeunstable.
–Watchforholesorotherhiddenhazards.
–Usecautionwhenoperatingonaslope.Travel
straightupanddownslopes.Reducespeed
whenmakingsharpturnsorwhenturningon
hillsides.Avoidturningonhillsideswhenever
possible.
–Useextracautionwhenoperatingonwet
surfaces,athigherspeedsorwithafullload.
Stoppingtimeincreaseswithafullload.Shift
intoalowergearbeforestartingupordown
ahill.
–Avoidsuddenstopsandstarts.Donotgo
fromreversetoforwardorforwardtoreverse
withoutcomingtoacompletestop.
–Donotattemptsharpturnsorabrupt
maneuversorotherunsafedrivingactionsthat
maycausealossofcontrol.
–Beawareofyoursurroundingswhenturning
orbackingupthemachine.Ensurethatthe
areaisclearandkeepallbystandersoutofthe
operatingarea.Proceedslowly.
–Watchoutfortrafcwhennearorcrossing
roads.Alwaysyieldtherightofwayto
pedestriansandothervehicles.Obeyalltrafc
rulesandcheckforlocalregulationsonthe
operationofthemachineonornearhighways.
–Alwayswatchoutforandavoidlowoverhangs
suchastreelimbs,doorjambs,overhead
walkways,etc.Ensurethatthereisenough
roomoverheadtoeasilyclearthetowvehicle
andyourhead.
–Donotoperatethemachinewhenthereisthe
riskoflightning.
–Ifyouareeverunsureaboutsafeoperation,
stopworkingandaskyoursupervisor.
–Donotleavethemachineunattendedwhileit
isrunning.
•Ensurethatthemachineisconnectedtothetow
vehiclebeforeloading.
•Donotcarryloadsthatexceedtheloadlimitsof
themachineorthetowvehicle.
•Thestabilityofloadscanvary—forexample,high
loadshaveahighercenterofgravity.Reducethe
maximumloadlimitstoensurebetterstability,if
necessary.
•Toavoidcausingthemachinetotipover,dothe
following:
–Carefullymonitortheheightandweightofthe
load.Higherandheavierloadscanincrease
theriskoftipping.
–Distributetheloadevenly,fromfronttoback
andsidetoside.
–Becarefulwhenturningandavoidunsafe
maneuvers.
–Alwaysensurethatthemachineisconnected
tothetowvehiclebeforeloading.
–Donotputlargeorheavyobjectsintothe
hopper.Thiscoulddamagethebeltand
rollers.Alsoensurethattheloadhasauniform
texture.Smallrocksinthesandcanbecome
projectiles.
•Donotstandbehindthemachinewhenunloading
orspreading.Theoptionaltwinspinner,cross
conveyor,andprocessorcanejectparticlesand
dustatahighspeed.
