TensioningtheConveyorBelt
Checkandadjustthebelttensionfrequently(Figure46).
Allrubberconveyorbeltswillstretch,especiallywhen
theyareneworhavenotbeenusedforawhile.
1.ParktheMH-400onlevelgroundwiththereargate
andfeedgateatleast1/4inch(6.25mm)offthe
oor(dependingonthematerial).
2.Fullyloadthemachinewithsandthatyouexpect
theMH-400touse.
3.Removetheblackfrontcoversoneithersideofthe
MH-400.
4.Usingtwowrenches,holdtheendofthetensioner
rodstationary,whilelooseningthelockingnut
closesttotheendoftherod.
5.Movethelockingnutback1–2inches(2–5cm).
WARNING
Useextremecautionaroundmovingpartswith
safetyguardsremoved.
6.Turnontheconveyorbelt.
7.Ifbeltslips,tightenthetensionboltsevenly(with
machineoff)halfaturnandrecheck.Continueuntil
thebeltmoveswithoutanyslippage.
8.Givebothtensioningboltsanotherhalfturn.Atthis
pointyoushouldhavepropertension.
9.Toverify,lookunderneathatthechassiscross
member.Themiddleofthebeltshouldjustclearthe
chassiscrossmemberwhentheMH-400isinthe
downposition.Ifthemiddleofthebeltistouching
thecrossmember,tightenbothtensioningbolts
anotherquarterofaturn.
Important:Bepatient!Donotover-tensionthe
belt.
Important:Donotuseairtoolsonthebelt
tensioningbolts.
ChangingtheConveyorBelt
Readtheseinstructionsbeforeremovingthebelt.Ifthe
beltiscompletelydestroyed,simplyuseaknifetocut
thebeltinanundamagedarea.Ifyouintendtomakea
warrantyclaim,thebeltsuppliermustinspectthebeltto
evaluatethedamageandmakerecommendationsfor
replacement.
RemovingtheBelt
1.Removetheblacksafetycoverslocatedonthefour
outercornersofthemachine.
2.Removetheguidesfortheinnerrubberlinerfrom
thefrontandbothsidesofthehopper,withthe
metalrailsattached.
3.Removethesiliconesealerontherearofthemetal
rails(butremembertoreapplythesiliconesealer
whenreinstallingthem).
4.Atbothfrontcorners,usetwowrenchestoholdthe
endofthetensionerrodstationary.
5.Loosenthenutclosesttotheendofthetensioning
rod.
6.Movetheinsideadjustingnutbackuntilthe
tensioningrodclearsthepillowblockbearing.
Note:Thefrontidlerrollerissupportedbytwo
pillowblockbearingssittinginanupperandlower
guide(onesetoneachsideofthemachine).
7.Supportthefrontidlerroller.
