•Disconnecttheplugfromthepowersourcebefore
adjustingormaintainingthepolesaw.
•Alwaysweargloveswhenadjustingormaintaining
thepolesaw.
1.Ifthesidecoverisinstalledtothemachine,removeit;refer
toServicingtheGuideBar,Chain,andDriveSprocket(page
13).
2.Placethechainaroundthesprocketonthefrontendofthe
guidebar,withthecuttingedgeofthechainteethonthe
topofthebarfacingforwardasshowninthediagram
beneaththesidecoverofthepolesaw.
3.Feedthechainaroundtheguidebarandalignthechaininto
thegrooveoftheguidebar.
Note:Ifyouareinstallinganewchain,iptheguidebar
toavoidunevenwear.
4.Positiontheopenloopofthechain(notontheguidebar)
aroundthedrivesprocketonthepolesawandinstallthe
guidebarandattachedchainontothepolesaw.
Important:Ensurethatthechainadjustingstud
isinsertedintothechainadjustingstudslotonthe
guidebar(Figure17).Youmayneedtorotatethe
chain-tensioningscrewtotthestudintotheholein
theguidebar.
5.Installthesidecover,butdonotfullytightenthesidecover
knob.
6.Adjustthechaintension;refertoAdjustingtheChain
Tension(page12).
SharpeningtheChain
Yearlyorbeforestorage
Asharpchainensuresbettercuttingperformance.
Thechainneedstobesharpenedorreplacedifyoumustforceit
ontothewood,orifitproducessawdustinsteadoffullwoodchips.
ContactanAuthorizedServiceDealertohavethechain
sharpenedorreplaced.
Service
Shouldthepolesawneedservice,takethetooltoyourAuthorized
ServiceDealer.
Storage
•Disconnectthemachinefromthepowersupplyandcheck
fordamageafteruse.
•Cleanallforeignmaterialfromthemachine.
•Storethemachineinawell-ventilatedplacethatis
inaccessibletochildren.
•Keepthemachineawayfromcorrosiveagentssuchas
gardenchemicalsandde-icingsalts.
•Storethemachineinanenclosedclean,dryarea.
