andgrease.Greasy,oilyhandlesareslippery
causinglossofcontrol.
12.Cutwoodonly.Donotusechainsawfor
purposesnotintended.Forexample:donot
usechainsawforcuttingplastic,masonry
ornon-woodbuildingmaterials.Useofthe
chainsawforoperationsdifferentthanintended
couldresultinahazardoussituation.
13.Avoidkickback.Kickbackmayoccurwhenthe
noseortipoftheguidebartouchesanobject,or
whenthewoodclosesinandpinchesthesaw
chaininthecut.
Tipcontactinsomecasesmaycauseasudden
reversereaction,kickingtheguidebarupand
backtowardyou.
Pinchingthesawchainalongthetopofthe
guidebarmaypushtheguidebarrapidlyback
towardyou.
Eitherofthesereactionsmaycauseyoutolose
controlofthesaw,whichcouldresultinserious
personalinjury.Donotrelyexclusivelyuponthe
safetydevicesbuiltintoyoursaw.Asachain
sawuser,youshouldtakeseveralstepstokeep
yourcuttingjobsfreefromaccidentorinjury.
Kickbackistheresultoftoolmisuseand/or
incorrectoperatingproceduresorconditionsand
canbeavoidedbytakingproperprecautionsas
givenbelow:
Maintainarmgrip,withthumbsand
ngersencirclingthechainsawhandles,
withbothhandsonthesawandposition
yourbodyandarmtoallowyoutoresist
kickbackforces.Kickbackforcescan
becontrolledbytheoperator,ifproper
precautionsaretaken.Donotletgoofthe
chainsaw.
Donotoverreachanddonotcutabove
shoulderheight.Thishelpsprevent
unintendedtipcontactandenablesbetter
controlofthechainsawinunexpected
situations.
Onlyusereplacementbarsandchains
speciedbythemanufacturer.Incorrect
replacementbarsandchainsmaycause
chainbreakageand/orkickback.
Followthemanufacturer’ssharpening
andmaintenanceinstructionsforthesaw
chain.Decreasingthedepthgaugeheight
canleadtoincreasedkickback..
