*Thereisresidualoilinthecrankcaseafteryoudrain
theoil.Donotpourtheentirecapacityofoilintothe
crankcase.Fillthecrankcasewithoilasdirectedin
thefollowingsteps.
1.Movethemachinetoalevelsurface.
2.RefertoPreparingforMaintenance(page18).
3.Removethedipstickbyrotatingthecap
counterclockwiseandpullingitout(Figure22).

4.Tipthemachineforward,removetheoil-drain
plug,anddraintheusedoilfromtheoil-drain
plughole(Figure7).
Important:Beforetippingthemachineto
changetheoil,allowthefueltanktorun
drythroughnormaluse.Ifyoumusttipthe
machinepriortorunningoutoffuel,usea
handfuelpumptoremovethefuel.
WARNING
Tippingthemachinemaycausethefuel
toleak.Fuelisammable,explosive,and
cancausepersonalinjury.
Runtheenginedryorremovethefuel
withahandpump;neversiphon.
5.Afterdrainingtheusedoil,returnthemachineto
theoperatingpositionandinstalltheoil-drain
plug.
6.Carefullypourabout3/4oftheenginecapacity
ofoilintotheoil-lltube.
7.Wait3minutesfortheoiltosettleintheengine.
8.Wipethedipstickcleanwithacleancloth.
9.Insertthedipstickintotheoil-lltube,then
removethedipstick.
10.Readtheoillevelonthedipstick(Figure22).
•Iftheoillevelonthedipstickistoolow,
carefullypourasmallamountofoilintothe
oil-lltube,wait3minutes,andrepeatsteps
8through10untiltheoillevelonthedipstick
iscorrect.
•Iftheoillevelonthedipstickistoohigh,
draintheexcessoiluntiltheoillevelonthe
dipstickiscorrect.
11.Installthedipstickintotheoil-lltubesecurely.
12.Recycletheusedoilproperly.
