1.Startandruntheengineforafewminutesto
warmtheengineoil;then,shutofftheengine.
2.Haveafunnelreadytoplaceundertheoildrain
plug,thenremovetheplugandplacethefunnel
undertheplugtoguidetheoilintoacontainer
(Figure20).
3.Installthedrainplugandwipeawayexcessoil
fromthemachine.
4.Fillthecrankcasewiththespeciedoil;refer
toFigure18inCheckingtheEngine-OilLevel
(page22).
5.Disposeoftheoilproperly.Recycletheusedoil
accordingtolocalcodes.

1.Removethespark-plugwire.
2.Cleanaroundsparkplugandremoveplugfrom
cylinderhead.
Important:Replaceacracked,fouled,or
dirtysparkplug.Donotsandblast,scrape,
orcleanelectrodesbecauseenginedamaged
couldresultfromgritenteringthecylinder.
3.Settheairgapat0.70to0.80mm(0.028to
0.031inch)(Figure21).Installthesparkplug
carefullybyhandtoavoidcross-threading.

4.Afterthesparkplugisseated,tightenitwith
asparkplugwrenchtocompressthesealing
washer.
5.Wheninstallinganewsparkplug,tighten1/2
turnafterthesparkplugseatstocompressthe
washer.
6.Wheninstallingtheoriginalsparkplug,tighten
1/8to1/4turnafterthesparkplugseatsto
compressthewasher.
Note:Aloosesparkplugcanoverheatand
damagetheengine.Overtighteningthespark
plugcandamagethethreadsinthecylinder
head.
7.Connectthespark-plugwire.
