1.Shutofftheengineandengagetheparking
brake.
2.Removedirtandgrimefromtheexternalpartsof
theentiremachine,especiallytheengine.Clean
dirtandchafffromtheoutsideoftheengine
cylinderheadnsandblowerhousing.
3.Servicetheaircleaner;refertoServicingtheAir
Cleaner(page22).
4.Greasethemachine;refertoGreasingthe
Machine(page21).
5.Changetheenginecrankcaseoil;referto
ChangingtheEngineOil(page24).
6.Forstorageover30days,preparethemachine
asfollows:
A.Addapetroleum-based
stabilizer/conditionertofuelinthe
tank.Followmixinginstructionsfrom
stabilizermanufacturer.Donotusean
alcoholbasedstabilizer(ethanolor
methanol).
Note:Fuelstabilizer/conditionerismost
effectivewhenmixedwithfreshfueland
usedatalltimes.
B.Runtheenginefor5minutestodistribute
conditionedfuelthroughthefuelsystem.
C.Shutofftheengine,allowtheengineto
cool,anddrainthefueltankusingapump
typesyphon.
D.Starttheengineandrunituntilitstops.
E.Choketheengine.
F.Startandruntheengineuntilitwillnotstart
again.
G.Disposeoffuelproperly.Recycleasper
localcodes.
Important:Donotstore
stabilizer/conditionedfuelover90days.
7.Removethesparkplugandcheckthecondition
ofit;refertoReplacingtheSparkPlug(page24).
8.Preparetheengineasfollows:
A.Withthesparkplugremovedfromthe
engine,pour2tablespoonsofengineoil
intothesparkplughole.
B.Placearagoverthesparkplugholeto
catchanyoilspray,thenpullthestarter
ropetocranktheengineanddistributethe
oilinsidethecylinder.
C.Installthesparkplug.
Note:Donotinstallthewireonthespark
plug.
9.Checkandtightenallbolts,nuts,andscrews.
Repairorreplaceanypartthatisdamaged.
10.Paintallscratchedorbaremetalsurfaces.Paint
isavailablefromyourAuthorizedServiceDealer.
11.Storethemachineinaclean,drygarageor
storagearea.
12.Coverthemachinetoprotectitandkeepitclean.
