Ensurethefollowingconditionsaremetbeforejump
startingthemachine:
Theelectricalsystemsofbothmachineshavesamerated
voltage.
Themachinesdonottouch.
Theelectricalsystemsofbothmachinesareswitchedoff.
1.Checktheweakbatteryforterminalcorrosion(white,
green,orblue“snow”),itmustbecleanedoffprior
tojumpstarting.Cleanandtightenbatterycable
connectionsasnecessary.
2.Makesurethebatteryoftheboostermachineisingood
conditionandfullychargedto12.6voltsorgreater.
Note:Use4to6AWG(AmericanWiregauge)
jumpercableswithshortlengthstoreducevoltage
dropbetweensystems.
Ensurethatthecablesarecolorcodedorlabeledfor
thecorrectpolarity.
3.Connectthepositive(+)cabletothepositive(+)
terminalofthedischargedbatterythatiswiredtothe
starterorsolenoidasshowninFigure68.
