ServiceInterval:Beforeeachuseordaily—Servicetheair
lter,housingandcoverfortheengine.
1.Opentheforwardhood;refertoOpeningtheHood
(page24).
2.Checktheair-lterhousingandair-intakebootfor
damage.Checktheentireintakesystemfordamage,
signsofleaks,andloosehoseclamps.
Note:Repairorreplacedamagedcomponentsbefore
operatingthemachine.
3.Releasethelatchesontheair-ltercoverandpullitoff
oftheairlterhousing(Figure61).
Important:Donotremovetheairlter.

correctlyandsealswiththeairlterhousing.
B.Closetheforwardhood;refertoClosingthe
Hood(page25).
•Iftheltersurfaceisdirty,replacetheairlteras
describedinReplacingtheAirFilter(page44).
ReplacingtheAirFilter
ServiceInterval:Every40hours—Replacetheairlterof
theengine(morefrequentlyifconditions
aredustyorsandy).
1.Releasethelatchesontheair-ltercoverandpullitoff
oftheair-lterhousing(Figure61).
2.Gentlyremovetheprimary-airlterfromtheair-lter
housing(Figure61).
Note:Avoidknockingthelterintothesideofthe
housing.
Important:Donotattempttocleantheairlter.
3.Gentlyremovethesecondary-airlterfromthe
air-lterhousing(Figure61).
4.Inspectthenewlterelementsandtherubbersealfor
damage.
Note:Ifthelterisdamaged,installanewairlter
thatisundamaged.
5.Installthesecondary-airlterintotheair-lterhousing
(Figure61).
Important:Donotpressonthesoft,insidearea
ofthelter.
Note:Ensurethatitiscenteredinthehousingand
fullyseatedbypushingontheouterrimofthelter
whileinstallingit.
6.Installtheprimary-airlterintotheair-lterhousing
(
Figure61).
