Important:Themachineisequippedwithadry-cell
battery.Automotive(wet-cell)batteriesarenotdesigned
towithstandseverevibrationorbeinginverted.Donot
replacethedry-cellbatteryofthismachinewithan
automotive(wet-cell)battery.
Alwayskeepthebatterycleanandfullycharged.Useapaper
toweltocleanthebatterycase.Ifthebatteryterminalsare
corroded,cleanthemwithasolutionoffourpartswaterand
onepartbakingsoda.Applyalightcoatingofgreasetothe
batteryterminalstoreducecorrosion.
Themachine-electricalsystemis12volt.
CheckingtheBatteryVoltageofthe
Machine
ServiceInterval:Monthly—Checkthebatteryvoltage.
1.Insertthemachinekeyintothekeyswitchandrotate
thekeyswitchtotheRunposition.
2.Wait5minutes,andnotethevoltageshownonthe
LEDdisplay.
Note:Refertothebatterychargetabletodetermine
thechargestateofthebattery.

Chargingthebatteryproducesgassesthatcan
explode.
Neversmokenearthebatteryandkeepsparksand
amesawayfrombattery.
Important:Alwayskeepthebatteryfullycharged.This
isespeciallyimportanttopreventbatterydamagewhen
thetemperatureisbelow32°F(0°C).
1.Cleantheexteriorofthebatterycaseandthebattery
posts.
Note:Connecttheleadsofthebatterychargerto
batterypostsbeforeconnectingthechargertothe
electricalsource.
2.Lookatthebatteryandidentifythepositiveand
negativebatteryposts.
3.Connectthepositiveleadofthebatterychargertothe
positive-batterypost(Figure68).
