ServicingtheSparkPlug
ServiceInterval:Every100hours—Inspectandadjustthe
sparkplug;replaceitifnecessary.
Every200hours—Replacethesparkplug.
UseanNGKBPR6ESsparkplugorequivalent.
1.SettheDyna-ClutchlevertotheStopposition,stop
theengine,andwaitforallmovingpartstostop.
2.Disconnectthewirefromthesparkplug.
3.Cleanaroundthesparkplug.
4.Removethesparkplugfromthecylinderhead.
Important:Replaceacracked,fouled,ordirty
sparkplug.Donotcleantheelectrodes,because
gritenteringthecylindercandamagetheengine.
5.Setthegapontheplugto0.76mm(0.030inch);refer
to
Figure21.

6.Carefullyinstallthesparkplugbyhand(toavoidcross
threading)untilitishandtight.
7.Tightenthesparkpluganadditional1/2turnifitis
new;otherwise,tightenitanadditional1/8to1/4turn.
Important:Aloosesparkplugcanbecomevery
hotandcandamagetheengine;overtighteninga
sparkplugmaydamagethethreadsinthecylinder
head.
8.Connectthewiretothesparkplug.

ServiceInterval:Every40hours
1.Removethebeltguard;refertoRemovingand
InstallingtheBeltGuard(page18).
2.MovetheDyna-ClutchlevertotheStopposition.
3.Checktheconditionofthebeltforwearordamage.
Note:Ifthebeltiswornordamaged,replacethebelt;
refertoReplacingtheBelt(page18).
4.MovetheDyna-ClutchlevertotheRunposition.
5.Checkthatthebeltisalignedstraightbetweenpulleys.
Note:Ifthebeltdoesnotrunstraightbetweenpulleys,
alignthepulleys;referto
AligningthePulleys(page19).
6.Checkthatthebelthasenoughtensiontoattenit
betweentheenginepulleyandthebelttensionpulley.
Note:Ifbelttensionistoolow,adjustthetension
ofthebelt-tensionpulley;refertoAdjustingthe
Dyna-Clutch(page19)

7.Measurethegapbetweenthebeltandthebeltguide.
Theairgapshouldbeapproximately6mm(1/4inch).
Note:Iftheairgapislargerorsmallerthan6mm
(1/4inch),adjustthebeltguide(Figure26);referto
AdjustingtheBeltGuide(page20).
8.Installthebeltguard;refertoRemovingandInstalling
theBeltGuard(page18).
