3.Iftheelectrolyteislow,addtherequiredamountof
distilledwater;refertoAddingWatertotheBattery.
DANGER
Batteryelectrolytecontainssulfuricacid,adeadly
poisonthatcanseverelyburnyouandothers.
•Donotdrinkelectrolyteandavoidcontactwith
skin,eyes,orclothing.Wearsafetyglassesto
shieldyoureyesandrubberglovestoprotect
yourhands.
•Fillthebatterywherecleanwaterisalways
availableforushingtheskin.
AddingWatertotheBattery
Thebesttimetoadddistilledwatertothebatteryisjust
beforeyouoperatethetractor.Thisletsthewatermix
thoroughlywiththeelectrolytesolution.
1.Removethebatteryfromthetractor;refertoRemoving
theBattery.
2.Cleanthetopofthebatterywithapapertowel.
Important:Neverllthebatterywithdistilled
waterwhilethebatteryisinstalledinthetractor.
Youcouldspillelectrolyteonotherpartsandcause
corrosion.
3.Removetheventcapsfromthebattery(Figure25).
4.Slowlypourdistilledwaterintoeachbatterycelluntil
theelectrolytelevelisuptotheUpperline(Figure25)
onthebatterycase.
Important:Donotoverllthebatterybecause
electrolyte(sulfuricacid)cancausesevere
corrosionanddamagetothechassis.
5.Wait5to10minutesafterllingthebatterycells.Add
distilledwater,ifnecessary,untiltheelectrolytelevelis
uptotheUpperline(
Figure25)onthebatterycase.
6.Installthebatteryventcaps.
ChargingtheBattery
WARNING
Chargingthebatteryproducesgassesthatcan
explode.
Neversmokenearthebattery.Keepsparksand
amesawayfrombattery.
Important:Alwayskeepthebatteryfullycharged(1.260
specicgravity),especiallywhenthetemperatureis
below32°F(0°C)topreventbatterydamage.
1.Removethebatteryfromthechassis;refertoRemoving
theBattery.
2.Checktheelectrolytelevel;refertoCheckingthe
ElectrolyteLevel.
3.Makesurethattheventcapsareinstalledinthebattery,
andchargeitfor1hourat25to30ampsor6hoursat
4to6amps.Donotoverchargethebattery.
4.Whenthebatteryisfullycharged,unplugthecharger
fromtheelectricaloutlet.
5.Disconnectthechargerleadsfromthebatteryposts
(
Figure26).
