Part Numbers
116237
Purpose
To ensure that the parking brake is on when 1. starting 2. the operator
leaves the seat.
How It Works
Two small mercury switches inside the potted container provide continuity
when the parking brake is engaged. When disengaged, the assembly is
rotated to another position which opens both switches inside. This is a
DPST switch.
Testing
1. Disconnect the switch from the wiring harness, but DO NOT REMOVE IT
from the parking brake bracket.
2. With the parking brake on, verify that there is continuity across the two
terminals in each connector.
3. With the parking brake off, there should be no continuity across the
terminals in each connector.
Part Numbers
116822
Purpose
To insure that the parking brake is on when 1. starting 2. the operator
leaves the seat.
How It Works
Two small mercury switches inside the potted container are oriented to
provide one open and one closed switch when the parking brake is
engaged. When disengaged, the assembly is rotated to another position
which reverses the switch conditions.
Note: This switch is similar in construction to 116237, except that the
switches provide opposing conditions rather than the same. This is
necessary because the Briggs and Stratton engine uses mag style ignition
instead of the coil type in the Onan’s.
Testing
1. Disconnect the switch from the wiring harness, but do not remove it
from the parking brake bracket.
2. With the parking brake on, verify the conditions in the table.
Note: The male pins connect with the orange and white wires on the
harness, while the female pins connect with the purple and light blue pins.
