StorageSafety
Shutofftheengine,removethekey,andwait
forallmovingpartstostopbeforeyouleavethe
operatorsposition.Allowthemachinetocool
beforeadjusting,servicing,cleaning,orstoringit.
Donotstorethemachineorfuelnearamesor
drainthefuelindoorsorinsideanenclosedtrailer.
Donotstorethemachineorfuelcontainerwhere
thereisanopename,spark,orpilotlight,such
asonawaterheateroronotherappliances.
CleaningandStoringthe
Machine
1.Disengagetheblade-controlswitch(PTO),
engagetheparkingbrake,turntheignitionkey
totheOFFposition,andremovethekey.
2.Removegrassclippings,dirt,andgrimefromthe
externalpartsoftheentiremachine,especially
theengineandhydraulicsystem.Cleandirtand
chafffromtheoutsideoftheenginecylinder
headnsandblowerhousing.
Important:Youcanwashthemachinewith
milddetergentandwater.Donotpressure
washthemachine.Avoidexcessiveuse
ofwater,especiallynearthecontrolpanel,
engine,hydraulicpumps,andmotors.
3.Servicetheaircleaner;refertoServicingtheAir
Cleaner(page45).
4.Greasethemachine;refertoLubrication(page
42).
5.Changetheengineoilandlter;referto
ChangingtheEngineOilandFilter(page47).
6.Checkthetirepressure;refertoCheckingthe
TirePressure(page54).
7.Changethehydraulicuidandlter;referto
CheckingtheTirePressure(page54).
8.Chargethebattery;refertoChargingtheBattery
(page51).
9.Scrapeanyheavybuildupofgrassanddirt
fromtheundersideofthemower,thenwashthe
mowerwithagardenhose.
Note:Runthemachinewiththeblade-control
switch(PTO)engagedandtheengineathigh
idlefor2to5minutesafterwashing.
10.Checktheconditionoftheblades;referto
ServicingtheCuttingBlades(page65).
Preparethemachineforstoragewhennon-use
occursover30days.Preparethemachinefor
storageasfollows:
A.Runtheenginetodistributeconditionedfuel
throughthefuelsystemfor5minutes.
B.Shutofftheengine,allowittocool,and
drainthefueltank.
Note:Starttheengineandrunituntilit
shutsoff.
C.Disposeoffuelproperly.Recycleasper
localcodes.
Important:Donotstore
stabilizer/conditionedfuellonger
thanthedurationrecommendedbythe
fuel-stabilizermanufacturer.
11.Checkandtightenallbolts,nuts,andscrews.
Repairorreplaceanypartthatisdamaged.
12.Paintallscratchedorbaremetalsurfaces.Paint
isavailablefromyourAuthorizedServiceDealer.
13.Storethemachineinaclean,drygarageor
storagearea.Removethekeyfromtheignition
switchandkeepitoutofreachofchildrenor
otherunauthorizedusers.Coverthemachineto
protectitandkeepitclean.
