CheckingtheGearbox-OilLevel
ServiceInterval:Every50hours
UseSAE75W-90syntheticgearlube.
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurfaceandengage
theparkingbrake.
2.Lowerthemowerdecktothe25mm(1inch)
heightofcut.
3.Disengagetheblade-controlswitch,shutoffthe
engine,removethekey,andwaitforallmoving
partstostopbeforeleavingtheoperating
position.
4.Liftthefootresttoexposethetopofthemower
deck.
5.Removethedipstick/llplugfromthetopofthe
gearboxandensurethatthelubricantisbetween
themarksonthedipstick(Figure57).

Iftheoilbecomescontaminated,contactyourT oro
Distributorbecausethesystemmustbeushed.
Contaminatedoillooksmilkyorblackwhencompared
tocleanoil.
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurfaceandengage
theparkingbrake.
2.Lowerthemowerdecktothe25mm(1inch)
heightofcut.
3.Disengagetheblade-controlswitch,shutoffthe
engine,removethekey,andwaitforallmoving
partstostopbeforeleavingtheoperating
position.
4.Liftthefootresttoexposethetopofthemower
deck.
5.Removethedipstick/llplugfromthetopofthe
gearboxandensurethatthelubricantisbetween
themarksonthedipstick(Figure57).
6.Extracttheoilthroughthellportusinga
vacuumdeviceorremovethegearboxfromthe
deckandpourouttheoilintoadrainpan.
7.Installthegearbox(ifitwasremovedtodrain).
8.Addapproximately420ml(14oz),untilthe
levelisbetweenthemarksonthedipstick
Important:Donotoverllthegearbox;
overllingthegearboxmaydamageit.
