Neveroperatethemachineunlessyouinstall
acoverplate,mulchplate,grassdeector,or
bagger.
1.Removethelocknut,bolt,spring,andspacer
holdingthedeectortothepivotbrackets
(Figure88).

Cleaning
CleaningtheEngineand
ExhaustSystemArea
ServiceInterval:Beforeeachuseordaily—Cleanthe
engineandexhaustsystemarea.
Important:Donotusewatertocleantheengine.
Uselow-pressurecompressedair.Seetheengine
owner'smanual.
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,disengage
theblade-controlswitch(PTO),andengagethe
parkingbrake.
2.Shutofftheengine,removethekey,andwait
forallmovingpartstostopbeforeleavingthe
operatingposition.
3.Cleanaroundtheywheel,cylinderhead,
injectors,andinjectorpump.
4.Cleanalldebrisfromtheexhaustsystemarea.
5.Wipeupanyexcessivegreaseoroilaroundthe
engineandexhaustarea.
CleaningtheMachineand

ServiceInterval:Beforeeachuseordaily
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,disengage
theblade-controlswitch(PTO),andengagethe
parkingbrake.
2.Shutofftheengine,removethekey,andwait
forallmovingpartstostopbeforeleavingthe
operatingposition.
3.Cleanoffanyoil,debris,orgrassbuild-upon
themachineandmowerdeck,especiallyunder
thedeck-beltshields,aroundthefueltank,and
aroundtheengineandexhaustarea.
4.RaisethemowerdecktotheTRANSPORT
position.
5.Cleanoutanygrassbuild-upfromtheunderside
ofdeckandinthedischargedeector.
DisposingofWaste
Engineoil,batteries,hydraulicuid,andengine
coolantarepollutantstotheenvironment.Disposeof
theseaccordingtoyourstateandlocalregulations.
