The grass deflector for this machine was not installed

at the factory. You will need to install the grass

deflector before using this machine in side discharge

mode.

Installing the Grass Deflector

An uncovered discharge opening could allow the

lawn mower to throw objects in the operator’s or

bystander’s direction and result in serious injury.

Also, contact with the blade could occur.

Never operate the lawn mower unless you install a

grass deflector, a mulch plate, or an entire grass

catcher assembly.

1. Place spacer and spring onto grass deflector. Using Side Discharge Blades 2. Place the grass deflector onto deck. Place the “L” end of spring behind deck edge. Side discharge blades are used when in side discharge mode only. Note: 3. Make sure the “L” end of spring is installed behind deck edge before installing the bolt as shown in figure 1. Install bolt and nut. Place “J” hook end of spring around grass deflector (Fig. 1).
