Storage
1.Disengagethepowertakeoff(PTO),settheparking
brakeandturntheignitionkeytooff.Removespark
plugwire.Removethekey.
2.Removegrassclippings,dirt,andgrimefromthe
externalpartsoftheentiremachine,especiallythe
engineandhydraulicsystem.Cleandirtandchaff
fromtheoutsideoftheengine’scylinderheadns
andblowerhousing.
Important:Youcanwashthemachinewith
milddetergentandwater.Donotpressure
washthemachine.Avoidexcessiveuseof
water,especiallynearthecontrolpanel,engine,
hydraulicpumpsandmotors.
3.Servicetheaircleaner;refertoServicingtheAir
Cleanerin
EngineMaintenance(page31).
4.Greaseandoilthemachine;refertoGreasingand
LubricationinLubrication(page29).
5.Changethecrankcaseoil;refertoServicingthe
EngineOilinEngineMaintenance(page31).
6.Changethehydrauliclter;referto
ServicingtheHydraulicSystemin
HydraulicSystemMaintenance(page44).
7.Checkthetirepressure;refertoCheckingtheTire
Pressurein
DriveSystemMaintenance(page37).
8.Chargethebattery;refertoServicingtheBatteryin
ElectricalSystemMaintenance(page35).
9.Scrapeanyheavybuildupofgrassanddirtfromthe
undersideofthemower,thenwashthemowerwith
agardenhose.
Note:RunthemachinewiththePTOengaged
andtheengineathighidlefor2to5minutesafter
washing.
10.Checktheconditionoftheblades.RefertoServicing
theCuttingBlades.
11.Preparethemachineforstoragewhennon-use
occursover30days.Preparemachineforstorage
asfollows.
A.Addapetroleumbasedstabilizer/conditionerto
fuelinthetank.Followmixinginstructionsfrom
stabilizermanufacture.Donotuseanalcohol
basedstabilizer(ethanolormethanol).
Note:Afuelstabilizer/conditionerismost
effectivewhenmixedwithfreshgasolineand
usedatalltimes.
B.Runenginetodistributeconditionedfuelthrough
thefuelsystem(5minutes).
C.Stopengine,allowtocoolanddrainthefuel
tank;refertoServicingtheFuelTankin
FuelSystemMaintenance(page34).
D.Restartengineandrunituntilitstops.
E.Choketheengine.Startandrunengineuntilit
willnotstart.
F.Disposeoffuelproperly.Recycleasperlocal
codes.
Important:Donotstorestabilizer/conditioned
gasolineover90days.
12.Removethesparkplug(s)andcheckits
condition;refertoServicingtheSparkPlugin
EngineMaintenance(page31).Withthespark
plug(s)removedfromtheengine,pourtwo
tablespoonsofengineoilintothesparkplug
hole.Nowusethestartertocranktheengineand
distributetheoilinsidethecylinder.Installthespark
plug(s).Donotinstallthewireonthesparkplug(s).
13.Checkandtightenallbolts,nuts,andscrews.Repair
orreplaceanypartthatisdamagedordefective.
14.Paintallscratchedorbaremetalsurfaces.Paintis
availablefromyourAuthorizedServiceDealer.
15.Storethemachineinaclean,drygarageorstorage
area.Removethekeyfromtheignitionswitchand
keepitoutofreachofchildrenorotherunauthorized
users.Coverthemachinetoprotectitandkeepit
clean.
