Note:Tobeginmovement(forwardorbackward),
sitintheseat,disengagethebrakelever,andthen
movethespeed-controlleverforward;otherwise,the
enginewillshutoff.
Tostop,pullthespeedcontrollevertotheneutral
position.
1.Starttheengine.
2.Releasetheparkingbrake;refertoReleasing
theParkingBrake(page19).
3.Tomoveforwardinastraightlinemovethe
speedcontrolleverforward.
Note:Themachinewillmovefasterthefarther
thespeedcontrolleverismovedawayfrom
neutral.
4.Toturnleftorright,pulloneofthesteeringlevers
backtowardneutralinthedirectiondesired.
5.Tostop,pullthespeedcontrolleverbacktothe
neutralposition.
DrivingBackward
1.Tomoverearwardinastraightline,pullboth
steeringleversrearwardequally.
Toturnleftorright,releasepressureonthe
steeringlevertowardthedirectiondesired.
2.Tostop,releasethesteeringleverstotheneutral
position.
StoppingtheMachine
1.Pullthespeed-controlleverbacktotheNEUTRAL
position,disengagethePTO-engagementlever,
andturntheignitionkeytotheOFFposition.
2.Settheparkingbrakewhenyouleavethe
machine;refertoSettingtheParkingBrake
(page19).
3.Removethekeyfromtheignitionswitch.
CAUTION
Childrenorbystandersmaybeinjuredifthey
moveorattempttooperatethemachinewhile
itisunattended.
Alwaysremovetheignitionkeyandsetthe
parkingbrakewhenleavingthemachine
unattended,evenifjustforafewminutes.
RaisingtheMowerDeck
intotheServicePosition
1.Shutofftheengine,waitforallmovingpartsto
stop,andremovethekey.Engagetheparking
brake.
WARNING
Incorrectlyraisingorloweringamower
deckcanbedangerous.Adropped
mowerdeckcanresultinaseriousinjury
orpropertydamage.
•Alwaysraiseandlowerthemower
deckonat,dryground,freeofany
obstructions.
•Firmlygraspthemower-deck-lift
handleandloweritinaslow,
controlledmanner.
•Alwaysmakesurethemowerdeckis
securelylatchedintheUPorDOWN
position.
2.Releasethemower-decklockingpinsoneach
side(Figure19).
