ServicingtheCutting
Blades
Maintainsharpbladesthroughoutthecuttingseason,
becausesharpbladescutcleanlywithouttearingor
shreddingthegrassblades.T earingandshredding
turnsgrassbrownattheedges,whichslowsgrowth
andincreasesthechanceofdisease.
Checkthecutterbladesdailyforsharpness,andfor
anywearordamage.Filedownanynicksandsharpen
thebladesasnecessary.Ifabladeisdamagedor
worn,replaceitimmediatelywithagenuineT oro
replacementblade.Forconvenientsharpeningand
replacement,keepextrabladesonhand.
DANGER
Awornordamagedbladecanbreak,anda
pieceofthebladecouldbethrownatyou
orbystanders,resultinginseriouspersonal
injuryordeath.
Inspectthebladeperiodicallyforwearor
damage.
Replaceawornordamagedblade.
BeforeInspectingorServicingthe
Blades
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,disengage
theblade-controlswitch(PTO),andsetthe
parkingbrake.
2.TurntheignitionkeytotheOFFposition.
3.Removethekey.
InspectingtheBlades
ServiceInterval:Beforeeachuseordaily
1.Liftthemowerdeckandsecureitintheraised
position.RefertoRaisingtheMowerDeckinto
theServicePosition(page24).
2.Inspectthecuttingedges(Figure64).
3.Iftheedgesarenotsharporhavenicks,remove
andsharpentheblades.RefertoServicingthe
CuttingBlades(page55).
4.Inspecttheblades,especiallythecurvedarea
(Figure64).
5.Ifyounoticeanydamage,wear,oraslotforming
inthisarea(Figure64),immediatelyinstalla
newblade.
