Replacing the Fuel Filter
Replace the fuel filter after every 100 operating hours or
yearly, whichever occurs first.
Never install a dirty filter if it is removed from the fuel line.
1. Park the machine on a level surface and disengage the
blade control (PTO).
2. Move the motion control levers to the brake position,
stop the engine, remove the key, and wait for all moving
parts to stop before leaving the operating position.
3. Close the fuel shut-off valve located under the front of
the fuel tank.
4. Squeeze the ends of the hose clamps together and slide
them away from the filter (Fig. 37).
5. Remove the filter from the fuel lines.
6. Install a new filter and move the hose clamps close to
the filter (Fig. 37).
7. Open the fuel shut-off valve.
Checking the Tire Pressure
Maintain the air pressure in the front and rear tires as
specified. Uneven tire pressure can cause uneven cut.
Check the pressure at the valve stem after every
50 operating hours or monthly, whichever occurs first
(Fig. 38). Check the tires when they are cold to get the most
accurate pressure reading.
Rear Tires: 13 psi (90 kPa)
Front Tires (castor wheels): 35 psi (139 kPa)

Leveling the Mower from
Side-to-Side
The mower blades must be level from side to side. Check
the side-to-side level any time you install the mower or
when you see an uneven cut on your lawn.
1. Park the machine on a level surface and disengage the
blade control (PTO).
2. Move the motion control levers to the brake position,
stop the engine, remove the key, and wait for all moving
parts to stop before leaving the operating position.
3. Check the air pressure of all four tires. If needed, adjust
to the recommended inflation; refer to Checking the
Tire Pressure, page 29.
4. Set the height-of-cut lever to position D
[3 inch (76 mm)].
5. Carefully rotate the blade(s) side to side (Fig. 39).
Measure between the outside cutting edges and the flat
surface (Fig. 39). If both measurements are not within
3/16 inch (5 mm), an adjustment is required; refer to
steps 6 through 8.
