Important:Donotcleanthesparkplug(s).
Alwaysreplacethesparkplug(s)whenithasa
blackcoating,wornelectrodes,anoilylm,or
cracks.
Ifyouseelightbrownorgrayontheinsulator,the
engineisoperatingproperly.Ablackcoatingonthe
insulatorusuallymeanstheaircleanerisdirty.
Setthegapto0.76mm(0.03inch).

CleaningtheBlower
Housing
Every100hoursoryearly,whichevercomes
rst—ForKohlerengines—cleanthecooling
ns(moreoftenunderdusty,dirtyconditions).
Toensurepropercooling,ensurethatthegrass
screen,coolingns,andotherexternalsurfacesofthe
enginearekeptcleanatalltimes.
ForKohlerengines,removetheblowerhousing,and
anyothercoolingshrouds.Cleanthecoolingnsand
externalsurfacesasnecessary.Makesurethatthe
coolingshroudsareinstalled.
Important:Operatingtheenginewithablocked
grassscreen,dirtyorpluggedcoolingns,and/or
coolingshroudsremoved,willcauseengine
damageduetooverheating.
CleaningtheCooling
System
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,disengage
theblade-controlswitch(PTO),andengagethe
parkingbrake.
2.Shutofftheengine,removethekey,andwait
forallmovingpartstostopbeforeleavingthe
operatingposition.
3.Removetheairlterfromtheengine.
4.Removetheengineshroud.
