UnderstandingtheSafety-Interlock
System
WARNING
Ifsafety-interlockswitchesaredisconnectedor
damaged,themachinecouldoperateunexpectedly
causingpersonalinjury.
Donottamperwiththeinterlockswitches.
Checktheoperationoftheinterlockswitches
daily,andreplaceanydamagedswitchesbefore
operatingthemachine.
Thesafety-interlocksystemisdesignedforthefollowing:
Topreventtheenginefromstartingunlessthetraction
pedalisintheNEUTRALposition.
Toautomaticallyensurethattheparkingbrakeisengaged
andthePTOisoffwhenstarting.
Tostoptheenginewheneverthetractionpedalisnotin
theNEUTRALpositionandyourisefromtheseat.
Toautomaticallyengagetheparkingbrakeanddisengage
thePTO,whenyouriseoutoftheseatwiththetraction
pedalintheNEUTRALposition.
Tostoptheenginewhenevertheparkingbrakeisnot
engagedandyourisefromtheseat.
TestingtheSafety-InterlockSystem
1.Sitintheseatwiththeengineoffandensurethatthe
PTOswitchisintheOFFposition.
2.TurntheignitionkeytotheSTARTposition;thestarter
shouldcrank.Donotstarttheengineorturnthe
engineoffpriortostep3.
3.TurnthekeytotheONpositionandpushthe
SmartParkswitchtotheOFFposition.Thebrake
shoulddisengageandthebrakelightshouldturnoff.
4.Withthebrakedisengagedandtractionpedalinthe
NEUTRALposition,turntheignitionswitchtothe
STARTposition.Thebrakeshouldautomatically
engage,theengineshouldcrank,andthebrakelight
willturnon.
5.WiththeengineoffandthekeyintheONposition,
engagethePTObypullinguptheblade-controlswitch,
youshouldheartheclutchengage.
6.Ensurethatthetractionpedalisinneutralandturn
theignitionswitchtotheSTARTposition.ThePTO
shoulddisengageandtheengineshouldcrankandstart
withoutthebladesmoving.
7.Withtheenginerunning,risefromtheseat.Theengine
shouldremainrunningandthebrakelightwillbeon.
8.Returntotheseatanddisengagetheparkingbrakeby
pushingtheSmartParkswitchtotheOFFposition.The
engineshouldcontinuetorun.
9.Risefromtheseatagain.Thebrakeshould
automaticallyengageandtheenginewillcontinueto
run.
10.Returntotheseatandengagethebladesbypullingup
ontheblade-controlswitch.
11.Risefromtheseat.Thebladesshoulddisengageand
theenginewillcontinuetorun.
12.Returntotheseatandpulluptheblade-controlswitch.
Thebladesshouldengage.Disengagethebladesby
pushingdowntheblade-controlswitch.
13.Pulluptheblade-controlswitchtoengagetheblades.
MovethetractionpedaltotheREVERSEposition.The
bladesshoulddisengage.Movethetractionpedalto
theNEUTRALposition.
14.Pulluptheblade-controlswitchtoengagetheblades.
TurntheKeyChoiceswitchtotheONposition
andreleaseit.Theoperating-in-reverselightshould
illuminate.
15.MovethetractionpedaltotheREVERSEposition.
Thebladesshouldremainengaged.Pushthe
blade-controlswitchintodisengagetheblades.The
operating-in-reverselightshouldturnoff.Movethe
tractionpedaltotheNEUTRALposition.
16.Ifnotengaged,pushtheSmarkParkswitchtotheON
positionandlightlytapthetractionpedalintheeither
theFORWARDorREVERSEposition.Thebrakeshould
disengageandthebrakelightshouldturnoff.
Note:Tapthepedal,donotfullyengagethepedalas
thatwillcausethebrakesystemtobindandnotrelease.
17.Withthebrakereleased,engagethetractionpedal
slightlyandrisefromtheseat.Theengineshouldkill.
18.Returntotheseatandturntheignitionkeytothe
OFFposition.Afterseveralseconds,thebrakesystem
shouldengage.
Note:WiththekeyintheOFFposition,thebrake
lightwillnotilluminate.
