AirPurgingProcedure
Duetotheeffectsairhasonefciencyinhydrostaticdriveapplications,it
iscriticalthatitispurgedfromthesystem.Thesepurgeproceduresshould
beimplementedanytimeahydrostaticsystemhasbeenopenedtofacilitate
maintenanceoranyadditionaloilhasbeenaddedtothesystem.
Thefollowingproceduresshouldbeperformedwiththevehicledrivewheelsoff
theground,thenrepeatedundernormaloperatingconditionsBeforestarting,
makesurethetransaxle/transmissionisattheproperoillevel.
1.Withthebypassvalveopenandtheenginerunning,slowlymovethe
directionalcontrolinbothforwardandreversedirections(5or6times),as
airispurgedfromtheunit,theoillevelwilldrop.
2.Withthebypassvalveclosedandtheenginerunning,slowlymovethe
directionalcontrolinbothforwardandreversedirections(5to6times).
Checktheoillevel,andaddoilasrequiredafterstoppingtheengine.
3.ItmaybenecessarytorepeatSteps1and2untilalltheairiscompletely
purgedfromthesystem.Whenthetransaxlemovesforwardandreverseat
normalspeedpurgingiscomplete.
HydroTransaxleReplacement
HydroTransaxleRemoval
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurfaceandsettheparkingbrake.Stopthe
engine,waitforallmovingpartstostopandremovethekey.
2.Disconnectthebatterybyremovingthenegativebatterycablerst,then
thepositivecablefromthebattery.
3.Usinganappropriateliftingdevice,raisetherearofthemachine.
4.Removethe13/16inchlugnutsecuringthewheeltothetransaxlehub.
5.Removethewheelfromthetransaxlehub.
6.Removethecotterpinandwashersecuringthedumpvalverodtothe
transaxle.Removethedumpvalverodlinkagefromthetransaxle.
