CleaningandStorage
1.Disengagetheblade-controlswitch,movethe
motion-controlleversoutwardtothePARKposition,
shutofftheengine,andremovethekey.
2.Removegrassclippings,dirt,andgrimefromthe
externalpartsoftheentiremachine,especiallythe
engine.Cleandirtandchafffromtheoutsideofthe
enginensandblowerhousing.
Important:Youcanwashthemachinewithmild
detergentandwater.Donotpressurewashthe
machine.Avoidexcessiveuseofwater,especially
nearthecontrolpanel,undertheseat,aroundthe
engine,hydraulicpumps,andmotors.
3.Servicetheaircleaner;refertoServicingtheAir
Cleaner(page30).
4.Greaseandoilthemachine;refertoLubrication(page
29).
5.Changetheengineoilandlter;refertoChangingthe
EngineOil(page31).
6.Checkthetirepressure;refertoCheckingtheTire
Pressure(page37).
7.Chargethebattery;refertoChargingtheBattery(page
35).
8.Checktheconditionoftheblades;refertoInspecting
theBlades(page38).
9.Preparethemachineforstoragewhennon-useoccurs
over30days.Preparethemachineforstorageas
follows.
A.Addapetroleumbasedstabilizer/conditionerto
thefuelinthetank.Followthemixinginstructions
fromthestabilizermanufacturer.Donotusean
alcohol-basedstabilizer(ethanolormethanol).
Note:Afuelstabilizer/conditionerismost
effectivewhenmixedwithfreshgasolineandused
atalltimes.
B.Startandruntheenginefortodistributethe
conditionedfuelthroughthefuelsystem.
C.Shutofftheengine,waitforittocool,anddrain
thefueltank.
D.Starttheengineandrunituntilitstops.
E.Startandruntheengineuntilitdoesnotstart.
F.Disposeoffuelproperly.Recyclepursuantto
localcodes.
Important:Donotstoregasolinewith
stabilizer/conditionerover90days.
10.Removethesparkplug(s)andcheckitscondition;refer
toServicingtheSparkPlug(page32).Withthespark
plug(s)removedfromtheengine,pour2tablespoons
ofengineoilintothesparkplughole.Usethestarter
tocranktheengineanddistributetheoilinsidethe
cylinder.Installthesparkplug(s).Donotinstallthe
wireonthesparkplug(s).
11.Cleananydirtandchafffromthetopofthemower.
12.Scrapeanyheavybuildupofgrassanddirtfromthe
undersideofthemower,thenwashthemowerwith
agardenhose.
13.Checktheconditionofthedriveandmowerbelts.
14.Checkandtightenallbolts,nuts,andscrews.Repairor
replaceanypartthatiswornordamaged.
15.Paintallscratchedorbaremetalsurfaces.Paintis
availablefromyourAuthorizedServiceDealer.
16.Storethemachineinaclean,drygarageorstoragearea.
Removethekeyfromtheignitionswitchandkeepit
inamemorableplace.Coverthemachinetoprotect
itandkeepitclean.
