CleaningtheBlower
Housing
Toensurepropercooling,makesurethegrassscreen,
coolingns,andotherexternalsurfacesoftheengine
arekeptcleanatalltimes.
Annually,orevery100hoursofoperation(moreoften
underextremelydusty,dirtyconditions),removethe
blowerhousing,andanyothercoolingshrouds.Clean
thecoolingnsandexternalsurfacesasnecessary.
Makesurethecoolingshroudsareinstalled.Torque
theblowerhousingscrewsto7.5N-m(5.5ft-lb).
Important:Operatingtheenginewithablocked
grassscreen,dirtyorpluggedcoolingns,and/or
coolingshroudsremoved,willcauseengine
damageduetooverheating.
FuelSystem
Maintenance
DANGER
Incertainconditions,gasolineisextremely
ammableandhighlyexplosive.Areor
explosionfromgasolinecanburnyouand
othersandcandamageproperty.
Performanyfuelrelatedmaintenance
whentheengineiscold.Dothisoutdoors
inanopenarea.Wipeupanygasolinethat
spills.
Neversmokewhendraininggasoline,and
stayawayfromanopenameorwherea
sparkmayignitethegasolinefumes.
ReplacingtheIn-LineFuel
Filter
ServiceInterval:Every100hours—Replacethe
in-linefuellter.
Neverinstalladirtylterifitisremovedfromthefuel
line.
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurfaceand
disengagetheblade-controlswitch.
2.Movethemotion-controlleversoutwardtothe
parkposition,stoptheengine,removethekey,
andwaitforallmovingpartstostopbefore
leavingtheoperatingposition.
3.Replacethein-linelter(Figure38).
