Safety
Beforerepairingthemachinedothefollowing:
Disengagethedrives.
Engagetheparkingbrake.
Shutofftheengineandremovethekey.
Disconnectthespark-plugwire.
Parkthemachineonalevelsurface.
Cleangrassanddebrisfromthecuttingunit,drives,
mufers,andenginetohelppreventres.
Cleanupoilorfuelspills.
Lettheenginecoolbeforestoringthemachine.
Donotstorethemachineorfuelnearamesordrain
thefuelindoors.
Donotallowuntrainedpersonneltoservicethemachine.
Usejackstandstosupportthemachineand/or
componentswhenrequired.
Carefullyreleasepressurefromcomponentswithstored
energy.
Disconnectthebatteryorremovethespark-plugwire
beforemakinganyrepairs.Disconnectthenegative
terminalrstandthepositiveterminallast.Connectthe
positiveterminalrstandnegativelast.
Usecarewhencheckingtheblades.Wraptheblade(s)
orwearthicklypaddedgloves,andusecautionwhen
servicingthem.Onlyreplaceblades;donotstraighten
orweldthem.
Keepyourhandsandfeetawayfrommovingparts.
Ifpossible,donotmakeadjustmentswiththeengine
running.
Keepallpartsingoodworkingconditionandallhardware
tightened,especiallytheblade-attachmentbolts.Replace
allwornordamageddecals.
Neverinterferewiththeintendedfunctionofasafety
deviceorreducetheprotectionprovidedbyasafety
device.Checktheirproperoperationregularly.
Toensureoptimumperformanceandcontinuedsafety
certicationofthemachine,useonlygenuineToro
replacementpartsandaccessories.Replacementparts
andaccessoriesmadebyothermanufacturerscouldbe
dangerous,andsuchusecouldvoidtheproductwarranty.
Checktheparkingbrakeoperationfrequently.Adjustand
serviceasrequired.
RaisingtheSeat
Makesurethattheparkingbrakeisengaged,andlifttheseat
forward.
Thefollowingcomponentscanbeaccessedbyraisingtheseat:
Serialplate
Servicedecal
Seat-adjustmentbolts
Fuellter
Batteryandbatterycables
RaisingtheFrontofthe
Machine
Ifthefrontofthemachineneedstoberaised,usethevery
frontedgeasshowninFigure27.
Important:Topreventdamagetothesteering
mechanism,usetheveryfrontedgeofthemachinefor
ajackingpoint.
