1.Lightlytaptheelementonaatsurfaceto

removedustanddirt.

2.Inspecttheelementfortears,anoilylm,and

damagetotheseal.

Important:Donotcleanthepaperelement

withpressurizedairorliquids,suchas

solvent,gasoline,orkerosene.Replacethe

paperelementifitisdamagedorcannotbe

cleanedthoroughly.

ServicingtheEngineOil

Important:Ifyouoverllorunderlltheengine

crankcasewithoilandruntheengine,youmay

damagetheengine.

1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,disengage

theblade-controlswitch,shutofftheengine,

engageparkingbrake,andremovethekey.

2.Makesurethattheengineisshutoff,level,and

iscool,sothattheoilhashadtimetodraininto

thesump.

3.Tokeepdirt,grassclippings,etc.,outofthe

engine,cleantheareaaroundtheoil-llcapand

dipstickbeforeremovingit(Figure38).

4.Shutofftheengine,removethekey,andwait

forallmovingpartstostopbeforeleavingthe

operatingposition.
