UsingtheGrassDeector
DANGER
Withoutthegrassdeector,dischargecover,
orcompletegrasscatcherassemblymounted
inplace,youandothersareexposedtoblade
contactandthrowndebris.Contactwith
rotatingmowerblade(s)andthrowndebris
willcauseinjuryordeath.
•Alwaysinstallthegrassdeectorwhen
removingthebaggerandchangingtoside
dischargemode.
•Ifthegrassdeectoriseverdamaged,
replaceitimmediately.Thegrassdeector
routesmaterialdowntowardtheturf.
•Neverputyourhandsorfeetunderthe
mowerdeck.
•Nevertrytoclearthedischargeareaor
mowerbladesunlessyoumovethepower
take-off(PTO)totheOFFposition,rotate
theignitionkeytooffandremovethekey.
•Neveruseyourhandstoclearthe
dischargearea.Useastickorsimilar
objecttoclearthedischargearea.
TransportingtheMachine
Donotleavegrassordebrisinthebaggerwhile
transportingthemachine.

Donotleavegrassordebrisinthebagger
whiletransportingthemachine.
OperatingTips
MachineSize
Rememberthatthemachineislongerandwiderwith
thisattachmentinstalled.Byturningtoosharplyin
connedplacesyoumaydamagetheattachmentor
otherproperty.
Trimming
Alwaystrimwiththeleftsideofthemowerdeck.Do
nottrimwiththerightsideofthemowerdeckbecause
youcoulddamagethebaggingtubes.
CuttingHeight
Foroptimumbaggingperformance,setthedeck
height-of-cuttoremovenomorethat51to76mm(2
to3inches)or1/3ofthegrassheight,whichever
isless.Cuttingoffmorethanthiswillreducethe
capacityofthevacuumsystem.
CuttingFrequency
Cutthegrassoften,especiallywhenitgrowsrapidly.
Youwillhavetocutyourgrasstwiceifitgets
excessivelylong(refertoBaggingLongGrass(page
23)).
CuttingTechnique
Forbestlawnappearance,besuretoslightlyoverlap
themowerdeckintothepreviouslycutarea.This
helpsreducetheloadontheengineandreducesthe
chanceofpluggingtheblowerassemblyandtubes.
BaggingSpeed
Thebaggingsystemmayplugifyoudrivetoofastand
theenginespeedgetstooslow.Onhillsitmaybe
necessarytoslowthegroundspeedofthemachine.
Mowdownhillwheneverpossible.
CAUTION
Asthebaggerlls,extraweightisaddedto
thebackofthemachine.Ifyoustopand
startsuddenlyonhills,youmaylosesteering
controlorthemachinemaytip.
•Donotstartorstopsuddenlywhengoing
uphillordownhill.Avoiduphillstarts.
•Ifyoudostopthemachinewhengoing
uphill,disengagethePTO.Thenbackdown
thehillusingaslowspeed.
•Donotchangespeedsorstoponslopes.
BaggingLongGrass
Ifthegrassiseverallowedtogrowlongerthan
normal,orifitcontainsahighdegreeofmoisture,
raisethecuttingheighthigherthanusualandcutand
bagthegrassatthissetting.Thencutandbagthe
grassagainusingthelower,normalsetting.
Excessivelylonggrassisheavyandmaynotbe
propelledcompletelyintothebagger.Ifthishappens,
thetubeandblowermayplug.T oavoidplugging
thebaggingsystem,mowthegrassatahigh
height-of-cut,thenlowerthemowerdecktoyour
normalcuttingheightandrepeatthebaggingprocess.
