Ensuretheparkingbrakeisadjusted.Keepthis

addendumwithyourOperator’sManual.

AdjustingtheParkingBrake

Checktomakesurebrakeisadjustedproperly.

1.Drivethemachineontoalevelsurface.

2.Disengagethebladecontrolswitch(PTO),movethe

motioncontrolleverstotheneutrallockedposition

andsettheparkingbrake.

3.Stoptheengine,waitforallmovingpartstostop,

andremovethekey.

4.Raisethebackofthemachineupandsupportthe

machinewithjackstands.

Raisingthemowerdeckforserviceor

maintenancerelyingsolelyonmechanical

orhydraulicjackscouldbedangerous.The

mechanicalorhydraulicjacksmaynotbe

enoughsupportormaymalfunctionallowing

theunittofall,whichcouldcauseinjury.

DoNotrelysolelyonmechanicalorhydraulic

jacksforsupport.Useadequatejackstandsor

equivalentsupport.

5.Removethereartiresfromthemachine.

6.Removeanydebrisfromthebrakearea.

7.Open(pushposition)thedrivewheelreleasevalves.

RefertoUsingtheDriveWheelReleaseValves

sectioninOperation.

8.Disengagetheparkingbrake.

9.Holdthethreadedrodendwithatoolandloosen

thelocknutawayfromthestandardnut(Figure1).

DoNotallowthecabletoturnwhenthenutsare

beingloosened.

10.Removeallslackfromcablebypullingonthe

threadedrodend(locknut)withamediumamount

offorce.Usingtheotherhandandngersonly,push

thecaliperleverarmtoengagethebrakepadsonthe

rotoruntiltheleverstops.Whileholdingtheleverat

thestoppedposition,pulltheslackoutofthecable

threadedendthroughtheswivel.Spinthestandard

nutagainsttheswiveltoholdthecaliperleverarm

inplace(Figure1).

Notetheorderofthestandardnutandlocknut(no

nutonthecableanchorsideoftheswivel).

11.Releasethecaliperleverandcable.Turnthewheel

hubbyhandinbothdirectionsrelativetothecaliper;

slightdragofthecaliperpadonthewheelhubis

desired.

12.Ifthereisnomovementbetweenthehubandthe

caliperthenbackoffthestandardnutoneturnfrom

theswivelandrepeatstep11(drivereleasevalves

mustbeintheopenpositiononthehydros).

Disengage the blade control switch (PTO), move the motion control levers to the neutral locked position and set the parking brake. 3. Stop the engine, wait for all moving parts to stop, and remove the key. 4.

13. If the hub moves very freely relative to the caliper, then tighten the standard nut one turn against the swivel and repeat step 11. Engine must be running and drive wheels must be turning so brake burnishing can be performed. Contact with moving parts or hot surfaces may cause personal injury. 14. After adjusting the brakes on both sides of the mower, cycle the brake handle a minimum of six times to allow the cable to seat into the sheath and mounting tabs.
