Block the blade with a piece of wood or some other device to stop it from turning while you remove the pulley nut. 2.
7 Installing the Blower Parts needed for this procedure: 1 Blower assembly 1 Belt Procedure 1. Install the mower to the machine; refer to Operator’s Manual. Figure 11 1. Idler pulley bracket and pulley 2. Top (wide) side of belt against bottom pulley 2. Install the blower by lowering the pivot pin into the pivot support (Figure 10). 3. V-side of belt into top pulley 4.
Figure 14. Use the same leveling holes for the new bracket to keep the mower deck level. Secure it with the existing washers and hairpin cotters. 8 Note: Save the slotted leveling bracket for future side discharge operation. Installing the Belt Covers Parts needed for this procedure: 1 Blower belt cover 2 Hand knob 4 Washer 2 Locknut (5/16 inch) (For CE units only) Procedure Figure 14 Install the blower belt cover using four washers and two hand knobs (Figure 13). 1.
11 Installing the Weight Parts needed for this procedure: Figure 15 1. Indicator rod 2. Clips 3. Screw (1/4 x 3/4 inch) 1 Weight 4 Bolt (3/8 x 1-1/2 inches) Procedure 4. Locknut (1/4 inch). 5. Nut 6. Handle The bagger adds a lot of weight to the rear of the machine and may cause an unstable condition which could result in a loss of control. 3. Attach the frame assembly to the bagger cover with two bolts (1/4 x 3/4 inch) and two locknuts (1/4 inch) (Figure 16). Install the front weight.
1. Insert the solid tab into the opening around the exhaust pipe facing upwards to ensure all heat is deflected away from the attachment and machine. 12 2. Insert a self tapping screw through the holed tab at the bottom of the deflector and fasten to the guard just below the exhaust opening in the guard. Installing the Exhaust Deflector (for Kawasaki engines only) Important: Make sure that deflector is seated flush against the surface of the guard to ensure all exhaust is directed away from the machine.
Installing the Bagger Assembly Parts needed for this procedure: 1 Bagger top 2 Grass Bag Procedure 1. Carefully lift the bagger top and slide it onto the quick attach bracket (Figure 20). The bagger top is easier to install if two people work together. Figure 19 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. Support rod Gusset Bolt (5/16 x 2 inches) Spacer Bolt (1/4 x 1-3/4 inch) Washer (1/4 inch) Lock nut (1/4 inch) 8. 9. 10. 11. 12. 13.
Mounting the Discharge Tube Parts needed for this procedure: 1 Discharge chute Procedure 1. Insert the upper end of the discharge tube into the bagger top. Slide the lower end of the discharge tube into the blower discharge extension opening (Figure 23). Figure 21 1. Bag frame hook 2. Retaining bracket 2. Hook the rubber latch onto the knob (Figure 23). 3. Lower the bagger top onto the bags. Then push down on both bag retainer handles until they lock on the bag frame (Figure 22). Figure 23 1.
Operation 1. Stop the mower, set the parking brake, and disengage the blade control switch (PTO). Stop the engine and remove the ignition key. Note: Determine the left and right sides of the machine from the normal operating position. 2. Pull up on both bag retainer handles until they unlock from the bag frame (Figure 25). Open (raise) the bagger top.
Clearing Obstructions from the Bagger 1. Stop the mower, shift into neutral, set the parking brake, disengage the blade control switch, stop the engine, and remove the ignition key. Wait for all moving parts to stop. 2. Check the grass bags and empty them if they are full. 3. Remove and separate the discharge tube and chute from the bagger top and mower. Using a stick or similar object, carefully remove and clear the obstruction from the mower, discharge tube, chute, and the bagger top. Figure 27 1.
Removing the Belt Covers Remove the two hand knobs and four washers securing the blower belt cover (Figure 31). Retain all parts for future installation. Figure 31 1. Mower belt cover 2. Washer 3. Hand knob Figure 29 1. Bagger top 2. Quick attach bracket Removing the Blower from the Mower 1. Open the latch and swing the blower out, away from the mower. Remove the blower belt from the idler and blower pulleys (Figure 32). 3. Remove the plates and fasteners from the quick-attach bracket (Figure 30).

Remove the mower belt cover from the right side pulley (Figure 34). Save the mounting hardware. 1. Remove the mower from the tractor; refer to the tractor Operator’s Manual for instructions. 2. Unhook the blower belt from the blower pulley (Figure 34). Remove the blower belt pulley. 2.
Install the Discharge Chute Note: The hi-lift blades are used with the Recycler® baffles. Removing the Grass Baffles Without the grass deflector, discharge cover, or complete grass catcher assembly mounted in place, you and others are exposed to blade contact and thrown debris. Contact with the rotating mower blade(s) and thrown debris will cause injury or death. Open holes in the mower expose you and others to thrown debris which could cause injury.
Metal Deflectors 1. Install the mounting brackets onto the mower with carriage bolts (5/16 x 5/8 inch) and locknuts (5/16 inch) as shown inFigure 39. 2. Align the discharge chute bracket over the springs and mower mounting brackets (Figure 39). Figure 38 1. Mount bracket, discharge 6. Bolt chute 2. Spring, hooked ends down 7. Locknut 3. Spacer 8. Carriage bolt (5/16 x 5/8 inch) 4. Discharge chute, bracket 9. Locknut (5/16 inch) 5. Discharge chute Figure 39 1. Mount bracket, discharge 5. Bolt chute 2.
Bagging Speed Note: Save the (hole) leveling bracket for use when the blower is installed. Most often you will bag with the mower throttle in the Fast position and drive at a normal ground speed. However, in extremely dry and dusty grass, you may want to slightly reduce the throttle speed and increase the ground speed of the mower. The bagging system may plug if you drive too fast and the engine speed gets too slow. On hills it may be necessary to slow the mower ground speed.
Maintenance Note: Determine the left and right sides of the machine from the normal operating position. Recommended Maintenance Schedule(s) Maintenance Service Interval Maintenance Procedure After the first 10 hours • Inspect the bagger Before each use or daily Before storage • Clean the bagger • Inspect the bagger • Clean the bagger If you leave the key in the ignition switch, someone could accidently start the engine and seriously injure you or other bystanders.
If the blades are badly worn or damaged, install new blades. Refer to your mower or mower Operator’s Manual for complete blade maintenance. Storage Caring for the Grass Bags 1. Clean the bagger attachment; refer to Cleaning the Bagger Attachment. Storing the Bagger Attachment Washing the grass bags is not recommended. 2. Inspect the bagger attachment for damage; refer to Inspecting the Bagger Attachment.
