There are several hydraulic valve solenoids on the

Groundsmaster4100--D(Fig.32).Testingofthesesole-

noids can be done with the solenoid on the hydraulic

valve.

Testing

NOTE: Prior to taking small resistance readings with a

digital multimeter, short the meter test leads together.

The meter will display a small resistance value (usually

0.5 ohms or less). This resistance is due to the internal

resistanceofthe meterandtestleads.Subtractthisval-

uefrom fromthemeasured valueofthecomponent you

are testing.

1. Make sure engine is off. Disconnect wire harness

connector from the solenoid (Fig. 33).

2. Measure resistance between the two (2) solenoid

connector terminals. The resistance for any solenoid

coil used on the Groundsmaster 4100--D should be

approximately 8.7 ohms.

3. Install new solenoid if necessary. Torque solenoid

nut to 5 ft--lb (6.7 N--m). Over--tightening may damage

thesolenoidorcausethecartridgevalvetomalfunction.

4. Whentestingiscomplete,connectwireharnesscon-

nector to the solenoid.
