cut.Checkthepressureatthevalvestemafterevery
50operatinghoursormonthly,whicheveroccursrst
(Figure46).Checkthetireswhentheyarecoldtoget
themostaccuratepressurereading.

Maintainsharpbladesthroughoutthecuttingseason
becausesharpbladescutcleanlywithouttearingor
shreddingthegrassblades.Tearingandshreddingturns
grassbrownattheedges,whichslowsgrowthand
increasesthechanceofdisease.
Checkthecutterbladesdailyforsharpness,andforany
wearordamage.Filedownanynicksandsharpenthe
bladesasnecessary.Ifabladeisdamagedorworn,
replaceitimmediatelywithagenuineTororeplacement
blade.Forconvenientsharpeningandreplacement,you
maywanttokeepextrabladesonhand.
Awornordamagedbladecanbreak,anda
pieceofthebladecouldbethrownintothe
operator’sorbystander’sarea,resultingin
seriouspersonalinjuryordeath.
Inspectthebladeperiodicallyforwearor
damage.
Replaceawornordamagedblade.
BeforeInspectingorServicingthe
Blades
Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,disengagetheblade
controlswitch,andmovethemotioncontrolleversto
thebrakeposition.Stoptheengine,removethekey,and
disconnectthesparkplugwire(s)fromthesparkplug(s).
InspectingtheBlades
ServiceInterval:Beforeeachuseordaily
1.Inspectthecuttingedges(Figure47).Iftheedges
arenotsharporhavenicks,removeandsharpenthe
blades;refertoSharpeningtheBlades.
2.Inspecttheblades,especiallythecurvedarea
(Figure47).Ifyounoticeanydamage,wear,or
aslotforminginthisarea(item3inFigure47),
immediatelyinstallanewblade.
