Introduction Introduction Welcome to Toshiba Connecting your TV Congratulations! You have purchased one of the finest color TVs on the market. The goal of this manual is to guide you through setting up and operating your Toshiba TV as quickly as possible. Instructions in this manual are based on using the remote control. You can also use the controls on the TV if they have the same name as those on the remote control.
Introduction Connecting your TV Note: Cables are not supplied with your TV. ● ● ● Coaxial (antenna) cable Connecting your TV ● Coaxial cable is the cable that comes in from your antenna, cable TV service, or cable converter box. Coaxial cable uses “F” connectors. Standard A/V (audio/video) cables usually come in sets of three, and are typically color-coded according to use: yellow for video, red for stereo right audio, and white for stereo left (or mono) audio.

Your TV has ColorStream® (component video) inputs. Connecting your TV to a DVD player with component video inputs (such as a Toshiba DVD player with ColorStream®) can greatly enhance picture quality and realism.

Introduction Using the POP double-window feature Connecting your TV The POP (picture-out-picture) feature splits the screen into a double window that allows you to watch two programs at the same time. The POP program can come from a TV broadcast or an external source, such as a VCR. To display a TV broadcast in the POP window: 1. Press SPLIT to display the POP window. Note: • The SPLIT buttons on the remote control operate the TV’s POP features. • You cannot access POP features when viewing DVI input.

Introduction Unlocking programs temporarily If you try to watch a TV program that exceeds the rating limits you set, the TV enters program lock mode. After 4 seconds, the TV starts the auto favorite channel search function (see page 35). You can either unlock the program temporarily or select a non-locked program to watch.
