Adjusting the sound
Muting the sound
Press MUTE to temporarily turn offthe sound. While the sound is
off] the screen will display the word "1/2 MUTE" or "MUTE" in the
lower right corner. Every time you press the button, the mute mode
will change in the following order.
[-9 Normal --->112 M UI'E --->M UI'E --]
When you select "MUTE" mode, the closed caption f_ature is
automatically activated. 'Ib deactivate this f_ature, press MUTE agmn.
This J:cature works only when the dosed caption mode is set to OFE

Selecting stereo/SAP broadcasts
The multi-&annd 'PC sound (MTS) f_ature allows you to listen to
high-fiddity stereo sound while watching 'PC. MTS c_ also transmit
a second audio program (SAP) containing a second 1,-mguage,music,
or other audio information (when provided by indMdual stations).
When the 'PC receives a stereo or SAP broadcast, the word STEREO
or SAP appeas on-screen every time the 'PC is turned on, the ch_nel
is changed, or the RECALL button is pressed.
The MTS f?ature is not available when the 'PC is in VIDEO mode.
'Ib listen to stereo sound:
1. Press MENU, and then press "( or _ until the AUDIO menu
appears.
2. Press A or • to highlight MTS.
3. Press "( or )) to highlight STEREO.

YOUcan leave your'PC in STEREO mode because it will
automatically output the type of sound being broadcast (stereo or
monaural). 'Itle word "STEREO" or "SAP" displays in yellow in
the menu when the 'PC receives the signal.
If the stereo sound is noisy, select MONO to reduce the noise.
'Ib listen to SAP (if available):
1. Press MENU, and then press "( or _ until the AUDIO menu
appears.
2. Press A or • to highlight MTS.
3. Press "( or )) to highlight SAE.YOUwill hear the station's second
audio program (if _'mlable) from the speakers, while viewing the
