Chapter 2: Connecting your TV Connecting a device to the IR OUT infrared terminal using the IR blaster cable for IR pass-through device control To control the device(s): Point either the device’s remote control or the TV remote control (that you previously programmed to operate the device; - Chapter 3) toward the front of the TV and press the button for the desired function. The signal passes from the remote control through the TV to the device via the IR blaster cable.

Blocking TV programs and movies by rating (V-Chip) Registering a new PIN code Some TV programs and movies include signals that classify the content of the program (violence, sex, dialogue, language). The V-Chip feature in this TV detects the signals and blocks the programs according to the ratings you select.

Chapter 6: Basic features Note: • If you place an “5” in the box next to “Rated “None””, programs rated “None” or “Not Rated” will be blocked; however, programs that do not provide any rating information will not be blocked. • To display the rating of the program you are watching, press on the remote control. If it is rated “None,” the word “NONE” appears in the INFO screen (as shown below right). If rating information is not provided, no rating will appear in the INFO screen.
Chapter 6: Basic features Network Lock Panel lock You can use the Network Lock feature to prevent the Web browser from launching. When this feature is set to On, PIN input will be necessary to use Widgets, VUDU or YouTube. You can lock the control panel to prevent your settings from being changed accidentally (by children, for example). When Panel Lock is On, none of the controls on the TV control panel will operate except POWER.
Chapter 6: Basic features Using REGZA-LINK® This feature uses CEC technology and allows you to control Toshiba REGZA-LINK® compatible devices with the TV remote control via HDMI connection. When Enable REGZA-LINK in the REGZA-LINK Setup menu is set to On, the following REGZA-LINK® functions will be enabled. REGZA-LINK® playback device control With your TV’s remote control, you can control the connected REGZA-LINK playback device you are watching.
Chapter 6: Basic features Amplifier VOLUME and MUTE controls To set the REGZA-LINK® Setup: With your TV’s remote control, you can adjust or mute the sound volume of your amplifier. Chapter 6: Basic features Using the HDMI® settings feature Setting the HDMI® audio mode This menu consists of the following items (new HDMI capabilities) and will be grayed out on non-HDMI inputs. Some HDMI legacy sources may not work properly with your HDMI TV, please try setting the following options (Content Type and INSTAPORT™) to Off. Adjusting these settings should allow your HDMI legacy source to operate properly with your TV.
Chapter 6: Basic features Using the PC settings feature Setting the PC Audio You can view an image from a PC on the TV screen. When a PC is connected to the TV's PC IN terminal, you can use the PC Settings feature to make adjustments to the image. If the edges of the picture are cut off, readjust the Horizontal Position and Vertical Position. If the picture is affected by interference, readjust the Clock Phase and Sampling Clock.
Chapter 6: Basic features Setting the On Timer Setting the Sleep Timer You can set the on timer to automatically turn on the TV to a preset channel or input at a preset time. You can set the sleep timer to turn off the TV after a set length of time (maximum of 12 hours). To activate the On Timer: To set the sleep timer using the remote control: Press [ to set the length of time until the TV turns off.
Chapter 6: Basic features Automatic Power Down Power-On Mode The TV will automatically turn itself off (standby) after 4 hours, if you do not operate the TV either from the remote control or the TV control panel. You can select either Power-Saving or Fast mode. •Power-Saving mode keeps power consumption in standby mode to below 1W. As a result, it takes a bit longer for the TV to turn on. •Fast mode increases power consumption in standby mode. As a result, the TV will turn on more quickly.
Chapter 6: Basic features Displaying TV status information Viewing support information To display TV status information: Press . The following information will display (if applicable): •Current input (ANT/CABLE, Video, etc.) •If ANT/CABLE is the current input, either “CABLE” (for cable TV) or “ANT” (for over-the-air broadcasts).
Chapter 7: Picture and sound controls Selecting the picture size You can view many program formats in a variety of picture sizes—Native, 4:3, Full, TheaterWide 1, TheaterWide 2, TheaterWide 3, Normal and Dot by Dot. Note: The “picture size” illustrations are examples only. The format of the image (in any of the picture sizes) will vary depending on the format of the signal you are currently watching. Select the picture size that displays the current program the way that looks best to you.
Chapter 7: Picture and sound controls Picture Size Native (for 480i (HDMI), 480p (HDMI), 720p, 1080i, and 1080p signal programs) • If receiving a 1080i, 1080p, 720p, 480i (HDMI), or 480p (HDMI) signal program, Native mode scales the video to display the entire picture within the borders of the screen (i.e. no overscanning). • This is especially useful for external HD sources such as DVHS movies, Video Games or PC graphics. • None of the picture is hidden.
Chapter 7: Picture and sound controls Scrolling the picture Using the 4:3 Stretch If the edges of the picture are cut off, you can adjust the image position. When 4:3 Stretch is activated, the size switching system converts 4:3 programs to full screen picture. Note: You can adjust the picture position when the picture size is set to TheaterWide 2 or TheaterWide 3. Note: This feature is available when Auto Aspect is set to On.

This feature displays a histogram and control curve illustrating the brightness of the TV.
