7. Replace the expansion card carriage into the chassis by pressing the
four top corners of the unit in order as indicated by numbers on the
top of the carriage.
8. Connect any cabling necessary for the operation of the
expansion card.
9. Replace the case.
10. Plug in the power cable and turn on the computer.
11. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for setting up the expansion
card.
You may need to change jumper settings on the card or configuration
settings in the computer BIOS. You may also need to set up the
expansion card using a vendor-supplied setup floppy disk or CD-ROM.
Adding memory
Toshiba Equium 8000S computers are shipped with:
Y133 MHz Synchronous DRAM (SDRAM) if the processor is a
Pentium III
Y100 or 133 MHz SDRAM if the processor is a Celeron
The main memory bank contains three 168-pin DIMM (dual inline
memory module) sockets—DIMM 1, DIMM 2, and DIMM 3. The
Toshiba Equium 8000S supports system memory from 64 MB to
512 MB. The memory modules available are 64 MB, 128 MB and
256 MB of SDRAM. The maximum DIMM capacity for the Equium
8000S is 512 MB.
The memory controller supports 64-bit wide DIMMs without ECC/EC.
The controller uses the JEDEC standard serial presence detect
mechanism to detect memory and array configuration. No jumper
settings are required for the memory size or type; memory is
automatically detected by the system BIOS.
Three double-sided DIMMs (a memory module with memory chips on
both sides) cannot be configured at the same time.
