5. Eject button
To insert or remove a CD-ROM, press the eject
button to open the drive tray. The eject
mechanism requires power to operate. Do not
press the eject button while the CD-ROM drive
lamp is lit. Doing so could affect the system.
If the CD-ROM drive is operational, quit the
programs using the CD-ROM to bring the drive
to halt.
6. Eject hole To open the drive tray when the computer is off,
insert a slender object, such as a straightened
paper clip, into the eject hole.
Never insert a mechanical pencil lead, plastic stick, or other object that is
easy to break into the eject hole. To open the drive tray using the eject
hole, switch off the computer first.
Handling a compact disc
Hold the disc by the centre and outer edges, taking care not to touch
the surface.
Place the disc on the drive tray with the disc label up.
When not using a disc, keep it in its case.
Avoid exposing discs to direct sunlight and high temperatures.
Never bend discs or place a heavy object on them.
If a disc is dusty, clean it carefully with a soft dry cloth.
Check all CD ROMs/DVD-ROMs before each use to ensure that they
contain no cracks. Do not use CD-ROMs/DVD-ROMs that are
cracked. If cracked CDs/DVDs are used in high speed drives they can
be dangerous.
